According to reports, the authorities had been notified that there were two intruder scares involving the Sussexes in May. And given that their two children, Archie and Lilibet, were apparently at the place, this was not a good look.
This especially since Harry has made it very clear about his desire to have security, even in the UK upon his visits. And given that there is an increasing rise in crime near the area, the authorities have taken steps to make sure that it is combated.
In an official statement by the Montecito Association, a representative said: “[The cameras are] in response to the high-value property crime we’ve experienced recently.
“The crimes are being committed by sophisticated out-of-the-area theft gangs.” The state-of-the-art cameras cost around $2,500.
And they allow the authorities to identify which people were in the area when such a crime is committed. This can help the authorities in a variety of cases, including finding missing people, stolen items as well as executing any active warrant.
The cameras have the ability to identify the exact make of the car model, even if the car has been damaged. Craig Bonner, who happens to be the undersheriff for Santa Barbara County, spoke highly of the cameras.
He stated: “They have a proven ability to aid investigators effectively solve crimes by providing leads on vehicles that were in an area when a crime is committed.
“They help speed up investigations, and they are a force multiplier; they’re out there working 24/7, rain or shine.” Given the nature of Harry and Meghan’s lifestyle, it is probably wise that there are extra precautions taking place.
