Prince Harry has credited the role that therapy played in his life since leaving the Royal Family in 2022.
Prince Harry Credits Therapy For Helping Him To Add Meaning To His Life
The Duke of Sussex made the decision to walk away with his wife Meghan Markle and continue their life overseas in the United States. They have settled down in Montecito and raised two children in the process.
But given that Harry had spent a significant proportion of his life undertaking royal duties in the firm, there was a natural bedding in period that was accompanied by apprehension since Harry was walking away from everything he knew.
But once he undertook some therapy, Harry admitted that he had a different view on life. In his comments, he said: “The moment I started doing therapy, it opened my eyes.
“I was moving through life thinking there was only one way to live. And therapy burst that bubble.” If those comments are taken to be true, then they are very significant for the following reasons.
First of all, it would hint that Harry was going into the unknown when he decided to leave the Royal Family. As such, the decision would have appeared to have been a more spontaneous one as opposed to having an exact plan on what he would be doing.
Secondly, by going through that period of therapy, it allowed Harry to really focus on what he wanted to do. He has subsequently become a Chief impact officer for BetterUp, an organisation that does offer professional coaching for people.
And as the organisation places an emphasis on supporting mental health, this is something that Harry was fully aware of.
He has been very vocal about how he even considered drinking and taking drugs following the death of his mother, Princess Diana, as a way to cope.
In some prior comments, Harry remarked: “I can safely say that losing my mum at the age of 12, and therefore shutting down all of my emotions for the last 20 years, has had a quite serious effect on not only my personal life but my work as well.”
