Prince Harry’s upcoming memoir ‘Spare’ could prove highly destructive.
Prince Harry’s Memoir Could Be Destructive-Says Royal Expert Richard Fitzwilliams
That is according to royal expert Richard Fitzwilliams. The title of the memoir is seen as a reaction to the notion that Harry was viewed as a spare part of the firm in comparison to Prince William.
And as the memoir is seen as an unfiltered account of the Duke of Sussex’s time in the Royal Family, there are concerns over how frank Harry will be.
After all, the title indicates that he was not seen as someone that was valued which may explain why he decided to exit the firm with Meghan Markle in 2020.
In his comments, Richard said: “The consequences of this will be far-reaching and may be highly destructive. There will undoubtedly be interviews, serialisation and endless speculation about this memoir.
“[He] should have waited many years [to speak out].” One of the reasons why it may have been wise for Harry to wait before releasing this was simply because Queen Elizabeth II had just passed.
In addition, King Charles III has only just taken on the mantle of following in the footsteps of the longest serving monarch in British history.
And as his Coronation is set to take place next year, coupled with the fact that Republican groups have been vocal about offering an alternative to the monarchy with protest banners, Harry’s memoir could add further damage.
Author Mark Borkowski confirmed as much: “For the new king, still planning his coronation, this could not have come at a worse time.”
The response on social media was much the same. A significant proportion of people felt that this was not going to help the validity of the monarchy.
And in the process, the comments towards Harry were very harsh indeed. One person wrote: “What an ass.” Until the memoir comes out, we will not know how much damage this may do. With that being said, it cannot come soon enough.
