Since All Out 2022, we’ve seen Toni Storm really take the reins as the leader of the AEW Women’s division. She’s been working week after week as the Interim AEW Women’s World Champion, and is set to defend once again tomorrow against recent ally in Hikaru Shida. Storm is on her way to being one of the best AEW Women’s World Champions of all time… if she is able to escape the ‘Interim’ phase of her reign.
Toni Storm Wants To Stop The Interim Championship Nonsense
Right now, while Storm is the one working matches each week on AEW Dynamite – Thunder Rosa is still the official champion. While speaking with Bleacher Report – Storm would detail her goals for the reign, starting with taking down Rosa and becoming recognized as the Undisputed AEW Women’s World Champion. Storm would be quoted saying the following.
“I guess my first thing would be to beat Thunder Rosa and stop this interim nonsense. That’s kind of what’s been bothering me. I think that’s been bothering a lot of people because she’s still calling herself the AEW women’s world champion and I’m the one here every week doing the work. ”
Right now, there is no clear timeline or even concrete reason for Rosa being out, aside from it being an injury. This situation had some controversy, with Rosa noted as not being well liked backstage in AEW and being accused of bullying.
Storm is mainly just looking to raise the stock of the division, and had the following to say beyond Rosa.
“I guess it’s about being a good champion, being a strong champion. That’s what I’m up against every day. I’m working harder than I ever had in my entire career. The time is now. I look at every week as just an opportunity to prove myself. I love giving it my all and who knows where we go from here? But all I know is I’m gonna continue to work hard.”
CM Punk was the last champion to be injured, and was out for three months before his return – only to be injured once again, leading to the Brawl Out controversy. Will Toni Storm remain champion once Rosa returns? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
