During his time in professional wrestling, Kurt Angle wrestled many of the all-time greats. From The Undertaker to Brock Lesnar to John Cena to Sting to AJ Styles – Angle wrestled them all. Due to this, he knows what a legend looks like in the ring, and sees a future legend on the current WWE roster.
Kurt Angle Feels Seth Rollins Is The Next Shawn Michaels
On the latest episode of The Kurt Angle Show, the WWE Hall of Famer would hype up one of the current members of the WWE roster as a future legend – comparing Seth Rollins to Shawn Micaels. Angle would be quoted saying the following.
“It’s not too much of a leap to say that he is the next Shawn Michaels. I believe he will eventually. He’s not there yet because Shawn put in a lot more years, you know, like 30 something years, but he does remind me of Shawn because everybody he wrestles, he has five star matches. When you have that kind of chemistry with everybody, you’re an incredible performer, and I think Seth Rollins is a lot like Shawn Michaels.”
Angle worked two critically acclaimed matches with Shawn Michaels in 2005, with their match at WrestleMania 21 being considered one of the best in event history. That feud remains one of the most beloved by the fans of Angle, due to the sheer quality of matches, and the build which included Angle doing a parody of Michaels theme song and going after figures from his past like Sherri Martel & Marty Jennety.
He never faced Seth Rollins as an opponent, but worked alongside him in a six man tag team TLC match during his farewell run in the company.
Thinking Jon Moxley Is Underrated
During the same episode, he’d hype up another member of The Shield with Jon Moxley. Since leaving WWE and joining AEW, the former Dean Ambrose has totally re-invented himself, and Angle has kept tabs on Moxley. Angle had the following to say about Moxley.
“I think he’s doing great. I think he is one of the most underrated wrestlers. I think he’s solid. He does everything incredibly well. I don’t see much of a transformation from Dean Ambrose to Jon Moxley. It seems like he’s still him. He has that attitude. He never took that away from himself. That’s what makes him special because that arrogant, cocky look, is what makes him who he is.”
