Grayson Waller tried to take away the vision of Apollo Crews when they last met in singles action, and that is a choice that might not pan out well for Waller now that they are set for a rematch. Crews has been more violent than ever before in recent weeks, recently dragging Waller under the ring and attacking his eyes.
Tonight, they meet at Halloween Havoc – and the stipulation of the match is up to fate. It’s spin the wheel, make the deal – and the wheel would land on a casket match. To win, you must place your opponent in a casket and close the lid. We last saw a casket match in WWE back in 2018, when The Undertaker defeated Rusev in Saudi Arabia. It’s the fourth in WWE to not feature The Deadman, and first in WWE.
Apollo Crews Goes Through The Casket
This one started physical, with both men brawling – Crews cornering Waller for a knife edge chop. Waller would hit the leg lariat once he got free, before the springboard elbow drop. He’d mock The Undertaker’s sit up taunt, before Crews did the same and sent Waller to the floor before hitting a moonsault off the apron. They’d brawl up the Halloween decorated ramp, where Waller would look for a suplex – only to be launched with a Belly To Belly Suplex.
Crews would press the advantage, hitting a shotgun dropkick to send Waller onto the announce desk. Waller would grab and use the pen of Vic Joesph to stab the eye of Crews. Now, with Crews unable to see clearly – Waller would take him to the top rope and send him down through the lid of the casket.
We’d be unsure if this counted as a victory, as Crews is in – but the lid is broken. Waller would call for his arm to be raised, and the lights went out. Suddenly, Crews was back at the ramp with another casket coming to ringside thanks to the Druids on loan from Undertaker. He’d find his second wind, and try to crush Waller with the steel steps. Waller would avoid this, before taking a Fallaway Slam on the floor.
Grayson Waller Can Rest In Peace
A bigger and more secure casket was put to ringside, and was opened by the referee. In the ring, Waller would be run down with a series of lariats – before being stomped into the corner. Double knee gutbuster would land, with Waller rolled into the casket – but the lid would not be closed.
Crews would be trapped halfway in the casket and had the limb slammed on his head – before Waller would look for the win. Waller would be brought into the casket – with a brawl breaking out before Crews threw Waller to the floor. Crews would come down with a frog splash.
A german suplex on the apron would be blocked before Crews hit an enziguri before taking the stunner from Waller. He’d again mock The Undertaker before looking for the Tombstone, with Crews countering to hit Bloody Cross. Waller avoided the casket before looking for a chokeslam, only to be planted in with a spinebuster – and the lid was closed.
