Schism has been a dominant force in NXT, with Joe Gacy at the helm looking for a better world. He’s already recruited the former Grizzled Young Veterans, turning them into Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid – and tonight, their latest member unmasked. They’ve been lurking around NXT every week, helping to hand out buttons or distract as Reid & Fowler got the jump on someone backstage. Tonight, the spotlight will shine upon them, as they start their new life in Schism.
Ava Raine Makes Her WWE NXT Debut As The Fourth Member Of Schism
Wearing masks that call back to the CZW roots of Gacy, Schism would hit the ring. He’d ask everyone to stare at them and reflect on the strength that is brought by a group who works together. Togetherness is an accomplishment – and everyone needs to remove their masks and join The Schism… or be crushed.
Fowler would say that he hears the fans being negative, but he knows that it’s just because of how they view the world. Reid would speak in wrath, anger being an uncontrollable state, but if you’re healthy? You can control anger, and turn it into love. Gacy said that many successful people are successful, yet live empty lives. Only if you show your true self, can you be happy.
He’d ask the latest member to show their true self, and this would happen. The first female member of Schism is none other than Ava Raine, daughter of Dwanye “The Rock” Johnson. She knew joining Schism was her only hope of avoiding people writing her story for her before it even began, and is taking control of her own career as part of The Schism.
JD McDonagh Takes Advantage Of Situation To Try And Injure Dragunov
JD McDonagh is viewed as a cancer to be eliminated by Ilja Dragunov. He drove him from NXT UK, and after McDonagh prevented him from becoming NXT Champion at Halloween Havoc? Dragunov is prepared to once again eliminate McDonagh from a brand. However, McDonagh feels the same about Dragunov, and intends to prove once again he’s the Necessary Evil, and hopes to bring a look of pain to the face of his rival.
Before the bell even rang, Dragunov would throw McDonagh off the top rope before nailing some German Suplexes. A near fall would follow, but the taped up ribs of Dragunov would become a clear issue already. McDonagh would be battered with chops around the ring, before a rear waist lock in the middle of the ring.
He’d break free and hit a headbutt to the ribs, before a knee to the midsection. Dragunov would be able to re-find his fitting, but when trying for the Constantine Special, would collapse on the apron. McDonagh saw the opening, and drove his opponent out to the floor and smiled as he crashed into the announce table.
Medical staff would be called to check on Dragunov, as we went to a commercial break. Back from the break, Dragunov would look to get back into the fight – refusing to learn the meaning of the word quit.
Ilja Dragunov Would Rather Pass Out Than Give Up
McDonagh would toss Dragunov right onto the ring rope, and watched as he tilted forward and landed hard on his ribs. A backbreaker would follow, before rabid knee strikes to the spine. Rear waist lock would put pressure on the ribs, but Dragunov broke free and threw some strikes with McDonagh.
A chop to the knee and head would normally be followed with a German Suplex, but the damage to the ribs prevented that. Instead, a kick to the face would land, before a diving knee drop to the midsection of McDonagh. The diving senton would follow, with McDonagh able to get his knees up.
McDonagh would head to the top rope, but was caught and brought down with a superplex before an elbow smash to the face. Dragunov was unable to get into a pinfall afterwards, but would rise and look for Torpedo, only to be caught into a Twister. McDonagh would have Dragunov caught in the middle of the ring, but Dragunov would not tap out. Bleeding from the mouth, Dragunov passed out – ending this one with referee stoppage.
