Chris Jericho has called out all the former champions of Ring of Honor to try and stop him, and tonight – former ROH World Television Champion Tomohiro Ishii has stepped up to the plate. Known as The Stone Pitbull, Ishii is respected as one of the toughest men in professional wrestling, but Jericho knows a different Ishii. He knew Ishii back when he was a young boy training under Genichiro Tenryu for the WAR promotion. Ishii used to get men like Jericho their coffee, and tonight Jericho looks to show that same young boy that time hasn’t actually toughened him up.
Tomohiro Ishii Chops Chris Jericho Until He Bleeds
Ishii would meet Jericho in the middle of the ring with slaps to the face, with Ishii rocking Jericho as this brawl continued. He’d be dropped to the mat and kicked in the spine, before Jericho rolled out to the floor. Back in the ring, Jericho would be dropped with a backdrop driver before avoiding the sliding elbow smash.
Ishii would block a Codebreaker and try for an enziguri – with Jericho able to avoid this. More strikes would be exchanged in the middle of the ring, Jericho trying to show his toughness and ending up with a chop to the throat. Striking Ishii is like shooting a bear with a BB Gun – it just pisses them off.
Despite this, Jericho kept his chops coming, and the chest of Ishii would start to turn red. However, Jericho would be the first to fall, and his chest was bleeding from the chops of Ishii which kept on coming, each one as hard as the last. The fans would be invested from chops alone, a show of the greatness of Ishii & Jericho – chanting Fight Forever.
Ishii’s right hand was bloody red, and Jericho would finally fall. Having a chance to breathe, Jericho would fire up and drive Ishii into the corner with a heavy set of lariats. Downward punches to the head would follow, with Jericho hitting eight before being taken out of the corner with a powerbomb. Ishii got the high stack cover – getting a two count.
Never Count A Legend Like Jericho Out
Jericho would take a lariat from Ishii and come back with a running cross chop to the throat. Ishii was taken to the apron as Jericho looked for the triangle dropkick. Jericho was blocked, and was drug onto the apron – where he would nail a DDT onto the apron. Ishii was still the first man up, and back in the ring would take two German Suplexes.
The lionsault would follow, with Ishii able to kick out at one. Codebreaker would follow, but once again – not enough to keep Ishii down. Judas Effect was blocked before Ishii would hit a running headbutt. Ishii would call for the brainbuster, but instead would be almost taken into the Walls Of Jericho.
He was able to counter before hitting a codebreaker of his own. Jericho would be run down with a brutal lariat, barely able to kick out before three. Ishii would be taken into the Walls Of Jericho, and forced to make the long crawl to the ropes – with Jericho pulling him back towards the middle of the ring.
Ishii would be taken into the Liontamer, and would flip Jericho off before ultimately tapping out. Chris Jericho has been having an excellent year and reign as ROH World Champion – but this might have been his best match of 2022. He’d head up the ramp, only to be laid out by former champion Claudio Castagnoli.
Will Castagnoli get his one on one chance to recover the belt at Final Battle? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
