Jon Moxley is set to face MJF at Full Gear, but has had his ripped away from the prodigy. The Firm was originally set up to protect MJF, but have gone rogue – taking MJF down, and attacking Moxley. Tonight, Moxley meets the young stud that is Taiga Style, Lee Moriarty – with a future shot at the AEW World Championship on the line.
Moriarty has been waiting for his breakout match in AEW, and tonight might be that match – and with Moxley having worked two matches last week, has a chance to exploit damage caused by Penta El Zero Miedo and Matt Menard. Ahead of the match, Moxley said Moriarty was considered for Blackpool Combat Club – but alongside Danielson, they decided he was not violent enough.
Erasing The Elite?
Before this match would begin, we’d see the final moments of the AEW World Trios match from AEW All Out, where The Elite won the belts – only to be stripped of the belts later that night. We’d see editing of history made, with Death Triangle taking their place at champions and on the promotional material. Without The Elite? Is it really All Elite Wrestling anymore?
It remains unclear when they will properly return to TV, but it’s clear it’s coming soon. They’re showing up again – even if the vignettes are weird, meaning their suspensions following the locker room brawl after All Out is done. AEW remains tight-lipped on the when, but we know it’s not a matter of ‘if’ they return anymore.
Lee Moriarty Takes The AEW World Champion Jon Moxley To His Limits
Ethan Page would join the commentary desk, keen on watching his fellow Firm member beat up Jon Moxley. Moriarty would lock in a cravate as the match began, with Moxley able to fight free. They’d exchange holds and strikes, before Moxley got a big punch to the face. Moxley would follow up with more punches in the corner, before biting at the forehead.
Neck Chancery Suplex would follow, with Moxley getting a two count. Moxley would be put on the defensive after some swift striking – and missing a charge into the corner and hitting the post. Hammerlock DDT would follow, harming the neck and arm at once. On the floor, he’d nail a body slam on Moxley – showing some impressive power – before sending Moxley into the steel steps.
Moxley would look for a piledriver in the ring, with Moriarty countering and hitting a PK. He’d try to follow up with a suplex, only for Moxley to nail the X-Plex. Moriarty would strike Moxley down, before looking to stomp his head in. This would fire Moxley up, and Moriarty would find himself on the bad end of a King Kong Lariat.
Death Rider was blocked, with Moriarty going after the arm before being hit with a cutter for a two count. Pop up knee strike and back suplex from Moriarty would follow, before the Border City Stretch was applied, with Moriarty giving up the hold briefly for some elbow smashes. Moxley was able to get the Hammer & Anvil Elbows and cross armbreaker – getting the win.
After the bell, Ethan Page would hit a big boot to the face of Moxley – and with Page in the upcoming tournament, he’s a favorite to meet Moxley or MJF following Full Gear.
Britt Baker Doesn’t Show Up For Interview, Saraya Keeps Fans In The Dark
Saraya arrived in AEW with a lot of hype, with a lot of speculation on if she is able to wrestle again following. Britt Baker tried to shut this down, sharing poorly sourced news about the physical condition of Saraya. Tonight, these two potential rivals sit down for an interview – and we could well find out just what is brewing between them, and if Saraya is ready to lace up her boots for a match against the former AEW Women’s World Champion.
Baker would end up no-showing the interview, and Saraya used this to show her loyalty – citing a time she got hit by a car and still wrestled. Saraya was excited watching AEW, and when the chance opened – she’d sign with the company. Renee Paquette would ask where Saraya stands medically – and would say she will share her status on that next week, wanting to confirm with one more doctor first.
