Chris Jericho once again proved he’s perhaps the greatest champion Ring of Honor has ever seen – defeating Tomohiro Ishii in a brutal brawl on AEW Dynamite. However, despite this – Claudio Castagnoli would attack him after the bell. Tonight for a Black Friday edition of AEW Rampage, Jericho has requested some time to address this cowardly attack.
Claudio Castagnoli Gets Another Chance To Become ROH World Champion, At A Steep Cost
Backed by the Jericho Appreciation Society, the ROH World Champion would hit the ring. Jericho would ask if there is any doubt that he’s the greatest champion in ROH history. He’s beaten everyone put in front of him, from Colt Cabana to Bryan Danielson to Tomohiro Ishii. Jericho has bled for this title, sweated for this title, and earned this title.
Despite this, Claudio would take a cheap shot – and even that can’t slow him down. When Jericho would ask who would step up next, the music of Claudio Castagnoli would hit. Claudio would say he’s got doubts, as he’s beaten Jericho twice, but neither time when it counts. Doubts clouded his mind, and to clear those doubts – he HAS to beat Jericho for the belt. He can focus on nothing else.
Jericho would ask if he deserves another chance, but decided that will not be the case. However Matt Menard had an idea, in return for the title shot – Claudio needs to put something on the line as well. If he is unsuccessful at becoming a two time ROH World Champion, he must leave Blackpool Combat Club and join the Jericho Appreciation Society. After all, Claudio was once a GREAT sports entertainer – and he might be one again after Final Battle.
Darby Allin Gets Taken To Limit In Match With Old Rival
Darby Allin & Sting were able to defeat Jay Lethal & Jeff Jarrett at Full Gear, and now Allin is back to focusing on singles action once again. Tonight, he goes one on one with Anthony Henry of The Workhorsemen, meaning JD Drake won’t be far behind.
Allin would be focused as this match began, with Henry being a pre-AEW rival – holding a 3-2 record against him. They’d kick things off with some grappling, Henry getting the upper hand before some kicks to the spine. Henry would be able to block a Sunset Flip, before lifting Allin into a suplex and placing him on the apron.
Allin would be able to take Henry off the apron, and Drake would take the dive on the floor. Henry was able to catch Allin with an STO on the apron. Back in the ring, Henry would hit a necksnap before applying the Surfboard Stretch. Allin fought free and tried for the Coffin Splash, but it was well scouted and blocked with a German Suplex.
Allin would be hung in the tree of woe for some heavy kicks, before a dropkick and a hanging neckbreaker. Henry would go up top and missed a knee drop, with Allin quickly hitting the Code Red in response. On the floor, Drake would get a cheap shot on Allin with a lariat, before being run down by Sting.
Back in the ring, Henry would be hit with a superplex, moving right into an attempt at the Falcon Arrow. Allin would block into a Scorpion Deathdrop, before the Coffin Drop for the finish. Henry was dominant, but only three seconds of a match matter when it comes to the record books.
Hikaru Shida Gets Dominant Victory
With a new AEW Women’s World Champion walking around in the form of Jamie Hayter, it’s time for Hikaru Shida to step her game up and get back into the title hunt. She’s asked for a match tonight on AEW Dark, as she goes one on one with Queen Aminata – and hopes to make it a quick victory. Prior to this match, we’d hear Athena declare a challenge to the ROH Women’s World Champion Mercedes Martinez.
In the ring, Aminata would nail a big boot and looked for the Air Raid Crash – with Shida able to counter into a pinfall for two. At ringside, Bunny & Penelope Ford were watching the match closely, as Shida nailed a stiff elbow smash and a Falcon Arrow. Katana would follow – and this match was over.
Could Hikaru Shida be the first to face the new champion? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
