When AEW started out, one of their biggest developmental project was former olympian boxer Anthony Ogogo. He’d be signed by AEW in 2019, and made his television debut in 2021 – being pushed into an angle against Cody Rhodes. However, once that feud was over – Ogogo was forced back to the UK for a while due to injury and visa issues. This would lead to him falling off of TV, and it’s been hard to get back on TV.
Anthony Ogogo Wants To Wrestle, Feels A Lot Changed During His Time Away
While speaking with Fightful, Anthony Ogogo would express that at the end of the day, he just wants to show off his hard work. Ogogo would say the following.
“I just want to wrestle. I want to get good and have time. I just want to be on TV and show people how hard I’m working and how good I can be.”
Ogogo would go on to explain that a lot changed during this time away from AEW following his 2021 injury.
“When I came back, everything had changed. They signed Bryan Danielson, the best wrestler who has probably ever lived, they signed CM Punk and this, that, and the other person. The whole landscape changed. Cody left, me coming back and doing something with him, that was gone because he’s not there. Everything just changed and with me, I think I’m such a unique talent that it’s hard to know what to do with me.”
Ogogo has mainly been wrestling on AEW Dark, Dark Elevation, and at various indies like Progress Wrestling in the UK. Ogogo has been involved in 23 matches in 2022, the bulk of his 32 recorded matches. His improvements are clear – and soon AEW will have a chance to try to make him a star again. As of the time of writing, his last match on AEW Dynamite came on June 4th, 2021 – teaming with QT Marshall to defeat Cody Rhodes & Lee Johnson.
