When it comes to iconic tag teams of the ‘Ruthless Aggression’ era of WWE, two names that stand out are Shelton Benjamin & Charlie Haas. Brought together under Kurt Angle to fill out Team Angle, they’d also earn the tag team name of ‘The World’s Greatest Tag Team’, going on to become WWE Tag Team Champions. These days, Shelton Benjamin is under WWE contract – and Charlie Haas would love to join him there.
Charlie Haas Would Be Open To Joining WWE Again To Honor The Worlds Greatest Tag Team
During a recent interview with WrestlingNews.co, Haas would be asked about reuniting with Benjamin in WWE. He’d have the following to say.
“Oh, yeah, definitely. I’m in shape for it. I’ve been wrestling lately, doing a lot of single stuff. But I would do it in a second. If the storyline was right. If it was going to honour World’s Greatest Tag Team, if it was going to put us in a right place to catapult us to maybe into getting into Hall of Fame status then I definitely would. But if it’s going to hurt us in any way, and just hurt what we have worked so hard for then I wouldn’t do it. That’s where I’m at right now in my career. So it all depends on the storyline and what would happen.”
Adding To A Re-Growing Division
Right now, WWE is doing some work to revive the tag team division. Teams like Johnny Gargano & Kevin Owens show potential, while the likes of The Street Profits, Alpha Academy, The New Day and The Usos are established acts. However, there’s also room for a nostalgia team – and many fans would be happy to see Haas & Benjamin back in the mix.
Benjamin has not been doing much of note, mainly wrestling at Live Events or on WWE Main Event. It’s a bit of a waste of one of their experienced veterans, and bringing Haas in would instantly give something for both men to do.
