Dominik Mysterio has become a lightening rod for the fans since turning heel, and it’s been fun to watch. He’s said and done the right things to get the fans after him, and it shows a good deal of growth and that he listens and learns.
Breaking away from his father was a great move storyline wise and professionally as it’s allowed him to step out of Rey Mysterio’s shadow and into his own.
DDP Thinks Dominik Mysterio Should be Booked like the Rock
His current run is a thing of beauty as they’re channeling the war Rey and Eddie Guerrero has over Dominik years ago.
It needed to happen as his run as a face was stale and redundant as he tried to be a clone of Rey. Now with Rey on Smackdown and being surrounded by some top flight talent, it’ll open him up to different styles he can incorporate and enhance what he can do.
A welcome change
This is something we’ve been hoping would happen as it gives him a chance to further grow after it felt like he was thrown out in front of the fans in a sink or swim manner, and he dog paddled.
He came across as needing more seasoning and that he was trying to fit into a role that was great to start, but it quickly fell flat.
At the time, it can be blamed on Vince McMahon running the show as it could be interpreted as Vince’s desire to portray the reportedly difficult relationship he had with Shane McMahon.
At the time, WWE was being booked to be a show for Vince and as fans we were expected to like it because we were told to.
While Dominik’s shift was teased at the end of Vince’s run as head of WWE Creative, it’s taken off under Triple H’s guidance as he’s allowed the talent to have more say and it’s helped to bring out the best in many of WWE’s talent.
DDP’s idea
One of the way they could really make Dominik hated more than he is, would be to book him like the WWE did the Rock.
Diamond Dallas Page talked about how he would book Dominik like they did the Rock early on and have him rip through everyone in his path.
Dominik winning a few matches by fluke or with help makes sense, but then they could have him go on a tear that would elevate his game and make the fans hate him even more.
We think DDP is dead on with this idea, especially with the Judgement Day relying on Rhea Ripley to turn the tide in their favor, but once AJ Styles and the OC add a member to counter her, it could be Dominik’s chance to step up and take over.
