In 2012, Andrew Garfield starred as Peter Parker in “The Amazing Spider-Man,” despite the fact that Joe Jonas was eager to play the part.
Joe Jonas Lost Out To Andrew Garfield On ‘The Amazing Spider-Man’
Jonas, who was up for Spider-Man years ago and was “so, so excited,” revealed this week on the “Just for Variety” podcast that it was the same year Andrew Garfield got the part.
Garfield landing the coveted part was, “Obviously, the right one,” the musician said. Because Marc Webb, director of the film, was once a music video director, Jonas thought he might have an advantage.
At the same time, the singer appreciates the thrill of putting himself out there and having to prove himself. Jonas answered whether he ever tried on his old Spidey suit, “No, but I’m sure I had one that I would try on occasionally back in the day.”
Meanwhile, Emma Stone and Andrew Garfield (Peter Parker/Spider-Man) teamed up once again for 2014’s ‘The Amazing Spider-Man 2.’
In addition to reprising his character in last year’s ‘Spider-Man: No Way Home,’ which featured Tom Holland as Spider-Man for the first time, Toby Maguire also starred in the first “Spider-Man” movie.
Nevertheless, it was not all doom and gloom. Joe ended up putting his focus into music, which has been successful in its own right.
Although the pandemic did hamper things since it made it much more difficult to hold tours, this provided Jonas with an opportunity to improve his acting skills. And given that his wife is none other than actress Sophie Turner, he managed to get some pointers from her in that regard.
His following comments confirmed as much: “When you have a wife like Sophie Turner, who is a phenomenal actress, [being] the one filming you and directing you through it, you got to bring your A-game.
“Yes, I’m going to be a little nervous, [but she’s] super helpful.” Time will tell if Joe does manage to land a huge movie role.
