Madcap Moss is a wrestler that is very polarizing especially in today’s wrestling climate.
If this was the ruthless aggression era of wrestling, there is no doubt that Madcap Moss would probably be a huge star.
In this time of faster paced smaller wrestlers, it is hard to see where Madcap fits in to wrestling at the moment.
Keep Them or Release Them: Madcap Moss
One of Vince’s pet projects is Madcap Moss. The key word is Vince. I think that many wrestling fans would agree that Vince was and still is out of touch with the times.
He grew up and became successful off of big sweaty men smacking each other. In today’s era of wrestling, this is a small aspect of what fans want to see. Madcap Moss is what JR would call a hoss or blue chipper.
While many of the most successful wrestlers of all time like John Cena, The Rock, and Randy Orton had the same start or have the same prototype as Moss, but this is a different time.
Compared to today’s standards, in ring ability and the pace of the match are important, but Moss lacks in both of these. On top of this, he isn’t very charismatic and can’t talk on the mic very well.
His paring with Baron Corbin and their split had Madcap on the right path to start becoming a major player, but I think that after that program ended, his flaws started to show.
For as much hate that Baron Corbin gets, he is one of the best in WWE at doing his job. He also did his job with Madcap Moss with helping get him over and hiding his flaws.
There is nowhere that I can think of in WWE that he would fit and be successful. Fans just don’t want to see him because he put on subpar matches.
Also, I question whether he really want to be a wrestler for real.
If he doesn’t want to put in the effort to become better in the ring, I think that he can’t stay because WWE have way too much talent on the main roster and coming up in NXT to waste on an unknown.
Madcap Moss: RELEASE HIM
If WWE Keeps Madcap Moss
What Now There is no clear place for Madcap Moss in WWE unless he is willing to just be enhancement talent.
I could see him going down to NXT and working with the more able wrestlers down there but I don’t even see the value with that because there isn’t much that he could show them.
Even someone like the Miz who is not as talented in the ring, moveset wise, as many guys in NXT or the younger guys in AEW can still teach them many things because he has great in ring sense and psychology. Madcap has none of this to teach.
One of the biggest surprises is that AEW wouldn’t even want him. He just isn’t talented enough or popular enough for AEW to pick him up.
Impact would probably want him and could probably switch him up to make him interesting. I doubt that they would want him though.
He might be able to go to Japan and make a name for himself if he is willing to take a beating, but that is still a big question mark.
