Meghan Markle felt that she was more important than the Royal Family.
Meghan Markle Thought She Was More Important Than The Royal Family-‘Wanted Her Leading-Lady Status,’ Says Tina Brown
That is according to royal author Tina Brown in her book entitled: ‘The Palace Papers: Inside The House Of Windsor – The Truth And The Turmoil.’
Tina alleges that following their wedding, Meghan reportedly couldn’t fathom why no one was congratulating her. She and Prince Harry had a successful royal tour of Australia, but Meghan was not seen as a leading figure.
Rather, she was one of the cogs that were needed to operate the machine that is the firm. Meghan and Harry’s successful 16-day tour of Australia, New Zealand, Tonga, and Fiji in 2018 was a replica of Princess Diana’s 1983 one.
And yet, Meghan allegedly had a hard time figuring out the purpose of the various engagements, which seemed to indicate a lot of confusion taking place beneath the surface.
In her book, Tina wrote: “The monarchy likely needed her more than she needed them. She had starred in the equivalent of a blockbuster film and wanted her leading-lady status to be reflected in lights.”
These sentiments were also backed up by author Valentine Low’s book, ‘Courtiers: The Hidden Power Behind the Crown.’ The writer was very vocal about how there was a lack of understanding over Meghan’s perception of what royal duties entailed.
He recounted one such incident in which Meghan was considered to be an inspirational role model after performing small acts of kindness such as bringing banana bread to a farming family’s home.
And yet, he also stated how staff members had allegedly heard Meghan stating: “I can’t believe I’m not getting paid for this.”
Now that the Duchess of Sussex is no longer in the firm, it is fair to say that this departure may have been on the cards for some time.
That is why the Sussexes will be looking to establish themselves as alternative to the royal brand. So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
