Flying Tiger are the only former champions in the tournament field, with 116 days as champion and a successful defense in the Tokyo Dome in that time. Tonight they look to stat their path back to the championships, as by far the most experienced team in this tournament. Their first opponents are SHO & Dick Togo – with Togo often being a weak link in House of Torture matches. However, he knows more ways to cheat than anyone, and SHO is a 5x IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champion – meaning it’d be unwise to look past them.

Flying Tiger Run Through House of Torture

Togo & SHO would attack before the bell, with Tiger Mask isolated in the corner of the ring with two boots on his throat. Tiger would fight free and hit the Tilt-A-Whirl backbreaker, before Togo would take kicks from Tiger & Eagles. SHO would rush the ring after a tag, but was cut down just as quickly.

Pulse Drop would be blocked, with SHO sending Eagles out to the apron – where Togo was able to yank him down. Togo would get some strikes in on the floor, before Eagles would be catapulted throat first into the middle rope. Eagles would be choked on the ropes, before Togo was able to hit that signature running fist drop.

SHO would take a boot to the face before a running hurricanrana dropped him. Tiger was unable to get the tag, with SHO yanking Eagles away before taking a spinning wheel kick. SHO would be met by a trio of kicks from the legend, before a roundhouse kick in the corner. Tiger Driver would be blocked, before SHO would use the referee as a shield before the spear.

SHO would be caught with a Tiger Driver after Tiger kicked out. Togo would show his actually fantastic wrestling by kicking the knee of Eagles and moving right into a tight cradle pinfall. Eagles would kick out and hit Turbo Backpack and apply the Ron Miller Special.

Togo would tap out, but EVIL & Yujiro Takahashi would distract the referee. Eagles would be taken into a crossface, and was able to find the bottom rope. Togo hit a stiff lariat and the Pedigree, before heading up top for a senton. Tiger Mask would stop him, before Eagle took out Eagle & Takahashi. Springboard dropkick & Ron Miller Special would follow – and this one was over.

Chris Bey Makes His Japanese Debut

Over in Impact Wrestling, Jay White has inserted two members of BULLET CLUB in the roster with Chris Bey & Ace Austin. The last fans saw of Austin in Japan was him joining BULLET CLUB, which was a shock after he became a fan favourite for his hard work in Best of the Super Juniors. Meanwhile, the Los Ingobernables de Japon team of BUSHI & Titan just fell short of winning the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Championships, and are keen to start their path to a second chance to win gold.

Bey & Austin would attack before the bell – isolating Titan in the ring for a double dropkick. Austin would vault over the top rope onto BUSHI, as Bey would stomp away on the back of Titan. Titan would get free from the attack, backflip across the ring before a matrix dodge and a jumping kick to the face.

BUSHI & Titan would use their speed to break Bey down – but were unsuccessful in isolating him. Austin & Bey would set up some poetry in motion before a running stomp to the back by Bey. Titan would take a deep rake to the back from Austin, while Bey would pose across the top rope.

A double back rake from BULLET CLUB would follow, before Titan was trapped in a surfboard stretch. Bey would lose control of the hold, before just nailing a european uppercut. Titan would be taken into a Dragon Sleeper soon after, and was able to break free before taking a backdrop driver.

BULLET CLUB Get On The Board

BUSHI would be eager to receive a tag, but Austin would drag Titan across the ring before a tag to Bey. A russian leg sweep would be followed by a standing moonsault from Bey and a jumping leg drop from Austin. BUSHI would finally get the tag after Titan dodged a splash in the corner.

Austin would be dropped with a running hurricanrana, before Bey would try to help even the odds. Instead, Bey took a bulldog as BUSHI hit a running dropkick. Missile Dropkick would be followed by a DDT, getting BUSHI a two count. Bey hit the ring, but was cut down with a dropkick to the knee.

Titan would hit a springboard crossbody, before taking Austin off the apron with a Pele Kick. Bey would be sent to the floor, before BUSHI held them in place for a springboard moonsault. Back in the ring, BUSHI held Bey up with Titan coming from the second drop with a dropkick. Titan hit a running lariat and slipped to the floor and BUSHI hit a codebreaker.

Austin would help to drop BUSHI in the ring, before Bey tagged out while soaring over the top rope. BUSHI would be hit with The Fold – before Austin threw Bey into the Art of Finesse cutter for the victory. What a debut for Chris Bey in Japan!
