Moments After The Beginning Of The November 30, 2020 World Tag League 2020 Match Between Great-O-Khan And Jeff Cobb Against Evil And Yujiro via New Japan Pro Wrestling

On November 30th, New Japan Pro Wrestling (NJPW) presented World Tag League 2020 (WTL 2020) from the legendary Korakuen Hall in Tokyo, Japan in front of 557 fans. COVID-19 (Coronavirus, 2019) safety restrictions were responsible for the reduced crowd size, yet the crowd was present during key parts of the night.

The opening series match of the event saw the Empire team of Jeff Cobb/Great-O-Khan take on the Bullet Club team of Evil/Yujiro who were accompanied by Evil’s manager “The Spoiler” Dick Togo. The Empire team came into the match after being defeated by former IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and CHAOS members “Stone Pitbull” Tomohiro Ishii and Toru Yano on November 28th, while Evil/Yujiro also came off a defeat to reigning IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champions and Suzuki-Gun member Dangerous Tekkers (Zack Sabre Jr/Taichi) on the same night.

Cobb/O-Khan jumped their Bullet Club opponents before the opening bell, giving them an early advantage. However, Evil/Yujiro wouldn’t be outdone, with Dick Togo getting involved later in the match.

With the match on the line, it was a late flurry from the Empire team that would see Cobb gaining the fall over Yujiro at the 13 minutes and 2 seconds mark with his Tour of the Islands technique. The win moved the Empire team to (4-3) [8 points]. The loss dropped Evil/Yujiro to (3-4) [6 points].

Cobb/O-Khan went on to face former six-time IWGP Heavyweight Tag Team Champion Guerillas of Destiny (Tama Tonga/Tanga Loa) on December 4th, while Evil/Yujiro faced the CHAOS team of two-thirds of the reigning NEVER Openweight 6-Man Tag Team Champions Hirooki Goto/Yoshi-Hashi.

The solid form of Cobb/O-Khan shows how quickly they have been able to gel as a tag team. If they were able to finish WTL 2020 on a run they would put themselves in the tournament finals as both looks for their first trophy within NJPW.
