Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will be in a problematic situation when accepting a human rights award for speaking out against alleged “structural racism” in the Royal Family.
Harry And Meghan Face Huge Problem If They Accept Award For Speaking Out Against ‘Structural Racism’-The Rift Could Be Even Deeper,’ Says Jennie Bond
That is according to royal commentator Jennie Bond. The Ripple of Hope award will be presented to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on Tuesday, 6th December 2022 by the Robert F Kennedy Human Rights Foundation.
However, by going about and accepting the award, it causes several problems. First of all, it endorses the notion that there was racism within elements of the Royal Family.
After all, the couple revealed in their controversial Oprah Winfrey interview that someone had reservations about Archie’s skin colour.
Secondly, by not accepting it and trying to appease members of the firm, it would then add to the suggestion that the allegations were not credible in the first place. This has created somewhat of a catch 22.
In her comments, Jennie said: “It’s put the Sussexes in a rather difficult position, I think. Do they say no, we don’t want to even acknowledge that you’re offering this award.
“I think if they do go along and accept this award on a public stage, yeah, it’s going to make things even worse, the rift could be even deeper.”
Aside from this problem, the couple have been questioned over how they have actually tackled the issue of systemic racism. They did not name the member of the Royal Family in question, which is why the award does seem out of place.
Not only that, but it does come across as glorifying a situation that must have been problematic at the time. Not only did some comments apparently be directed towards Archie, it led to the complete breakdown in trust between the Sussexes and the royals.
And yet, the Sussexes have shown that they are willing to generate some headlines, which is why this should not come as a surprise.
So there you have it folks. What did you think about this? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
