Tom Bower Claims Harry And Meghan Could Be Stripped Of Royal Titles If Duke Of Sussex’s Memoir Is Scathing
That is according to royal author Tom Bower. The calls for the Sussexes to be stripped of their royal titles has already begun online following Meghan’s recent interview with ‘The Cut.’
Not only was the interview contentious, but the timing of it was also called out since it coincided with the 25th anniversary of Princess Diana’s death.
In addition, since it was done shortly before the passing of Queen Elizabeth II, there was a perception that the Sussexes should not be allowed to disparage the monarchy when they benefit from the royal titles that they have been given.
And that could all come to fruition if the memoir is very critical of the firm in light of King Charles III taking the throne. In his comments, Bower said: “I imagine that King Charles has been warned that any retaliation won’t be pretty.
“All that King Charles can really do is to withhold the titles for his grandchildren Archie and Lilibet. Ultimately, I suppose, he could take away Harry and Meghan’s titles as well but that’s pretty drastic.”
If the titles were to be removed, then there could be other consequences that follow. First of all, the titles did play a part in the Sussexes getting lucrative deals with Spotify and Netflix.
This may not necessarily be the case moving forward if there were no royal titles. Secondly, this move could impact Harry’s relationship with his father forever.
After all, it could be seen as a sign of not supporting his new independent venture overseas. Lastly, in any event, this gives the Sussexes more ammunition to use going forward against the firm.
