There have been near countless stories about Vince McMahon from the good to the bad, and some of the more interesting ones are about how petty he comes off in some of them.
One of the more famous of those was with the Original Screwjob when the Fabulous Moolah helped him shaft Wendi Richter after Richter asked for equal pay to what the men were getting.
Vince McMahon Paid $100 to a Manager for WrestleMania 13
There are many others, such as the reason for him to retire from the WWE after paying out millions to keep various alleged sexual interactions quiet.
But this one is more in the curious petty category and comes to us thanks to Dutch Mantell on his Youtube Podcast.
Dutch regularly shares many of the stories he’s accumulated through his time in the business as well as his thoughts.
On Vince’s bad side
While Vince paid out millions, according to the WWE investigation, he wasn’t always so magnanimous as he once paid former WWE Superstar J.C. Ice (real name James Dundee) $100 for appearing at WrestleMania 13.
Dundee was a manager for the Nation of Domination stable, and he was fired for infuriating Vince in 1997. At WrestleMania 13, his went to the ring to help manage Nation against the Legion of Doom and Ahmed Johnson.
Dutch explained it on his podcast:
“And you know what he (J.C. Ice) got paid on that pay-per-view because Vince got mad at him for being an idiot? $100. That’s what he actually got paid. Even managers back in those days, you’d get at least five, six, or seven thousand dollars just to walk to the ring. Maybe not that much, but he got mad at him, and he gave him 100 dollars. And what’s Jamie going to do, bitching and complain? He is looking for a spot to get rid of him anyway.
“He showed up thirty minutes before the show started and still owed the guy like a $700 cab bill. And he told the cab guy, wait, I’ll get you your money, and the taxi cab driver never saw Jamie again. I think they got the guy paid somehow because the guy raised so much hell he wanted his money. And they knew Jamie was there at that time.”
This is one of those stories that’s surprising, but isn’t surprising given everything that former talent has said about Vince over the years, but promoters have always been an issue for talent.
While there are those that were honorable and always made sure their people were paid, others weren’t as straight forward for one reason or another, and this is another one of those.
