Looking at the second reason in the trifecta that makes Friday Night Smackdown the best wrestling show on television today, we come to their abundance of great storylines that they have going on. They have finally hit their stride with pushing multiple people at once and showcasing a large part of their roster through story telling week to week. Lets see what they got going on.
Storylines
Something that is at the very core of wrestling since the start of the business is storylines. Good versus bad, big versus small, this move versus that move.
Wrestling is all about competition and the reason that we care about the competition part is the story that the wrestlers craft to go along with the match.
Smackdown has been going a wonderful job of not only making storylines but weaving other storylines
together and planting seeds for future matches and feuds down the road.
No other wrestling show on television today have as many interesting storylines going on all at the same time as Smackdown. The Bloodline story is the hottest thing in wrestling today hands down, no debate.
Within this one story, you have Roman Reigns proving why he is the number one wrestler in the world today, the Usos proving why they are one of the greatest tag teams ever, Sami Zayn being led on by the group and his beef with Jey Uso, and also the rising star of Solo.
If you aren’t counting, thats four storylines in one. Also, the reign of the Intercontinental champion GUNTHER, Santos Escobar and his group trying to get established, their group’s feud with HitRow, LA Knight versus Riccochet, the new LA Knight versus Bray Wyatt story, Ronda Rousey as the Women’s champion and her making Shayna into the monster that she once was, and the next step in the Karion Kross versus Drew McIntyre feud
(you thought it was over?).
Also, looking forward, look for HHH to put a new emphasis on tag team wrestling, which he did in NXT and also,
the weakest part of the Smackdown roster, the women, is due for a facelift somehow.
