Last week, Mandy Rose managed to escape a Last Woman Standing match against Alba Fyre with her NXT Women’s Championship intact, thanks to a debuting Isla Dawn, also known as The Modern Witch. Tonight, with Gigi Dolin & Jacy Janye by her side – Rose will kick off NXT to celebrate her latest title defence.
Toxic Attraction Lay Out The NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions
Rose would claim to have won last week all on her own, pushing her reign past 400 days. NXT has had to create the Iron Survivor Challenge to name a new challenger, because everyone has fallen to her already. She’s almost upset that she can’t enter that match, and a chance to add yet another accolade to her trophy case.
Jacy Jayne & Gigi Dolin are now going to focus on becoming the first ever three time NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions in history. Carter & Chance would come to the ramp and stand up to their likely challengers, and set the record straight that Isla Dawn was the reason Rose won last week. They’d call Toxic Attraction a trainwreck waiting to happen, and say they hitch themselves to Mandy because without her – they’d mean nothing.
Toxic Attraction would claim that once they reclaim those belts, Chance & Carter will go back to being nobodies – inciting a brawl. Chance & Carter were outnumbered by Toxic Attraction – and laid out as the segment came to an end. It seems like Rose might not be defending at Deadline, enjoying a night off and likely walking into 2023 as champion.
Cora Jade Drops Wendy Choo
Cora Jade has made a lot of enemies lately, and while she might feel like she’s living the dream – tonight it might become a nightmare. She’s provoked Wendy Choo, who promised to ensure Jade regrets that as they go one on one tonight for WWE NXT. Choo has been resting up since her brutal feud with Tiffany Straton, but tonight she wakes up to remind everyone why she’s a threat.
Choo would hit a shoulder tackle as the match began, before locking in a hammerlock. Jade would fight free with an elbow to the face, before coming off the ropes and into a hip toss. Choo would be dropped with some clubbing blows, before Jade looked for the springboard double stomp. Choo rolled to the floor, catching Jade with a suplex on the floor.
Back in the ring, Jade would be thrown into the corner, but caught Choo with a back elbow before the springboard double stomp. Surfboard stretch would be applied, with the knee of Jade buried deep in the spine of Choo, sending pins and needle feelings throughout the body. Choo would be kicked off to the ropes, before Jade missed a back elbow and hit the ropes hard.
Choo would hit a Belly to Belly Suplex before a diving crossbody for a two count. A brainbuster would follow, before Choo would look for the moonsault, with Jade rolling to safety. Jade would swing and miss with her kendo stick, before a boot to the face. Choo would give up the stick, before Jade threw the drink of Choo into the face and nailed a DDT for the victory.
