To everything that is good, there must be a bad side to it and usually, AEW Dark has many bad parts to it. Most of the time, it’s not the in-ring work because I know that there are a lot of newer wrestlers and wrestlers making their debuts for AEW, but sometimes, it cannot be overlooked.
The Bad from AEW Dark
The first part of the bad part this episode of AEW Dark comes from the second match. Here we saw “The Reality” Zack Clayton in action.
While Clayton got a good look and size, I was not impressed with his in-ring work. There wasn’t much to go on, but with this being my first time seeing him in action, I didn’t think much of it.
Clayton might grow on me but at the moment, I don’t see anything from him that you can’t get from someone already on AEW television. It’s good that the crowd seems to hate him for being a bad guy, which is rare in AEW.
It’s a crime that with three hours of television a week, that AEW can’t find time to put someone as talented as Angelico on television. Aside from his cringy gimmick, he’s great.
Unless there is something special about her that I am not seeing, Emi Sakura is not entertaining at all to me. Out about ten or more matches that I’ve seen from her, I always come out of it thinking, meh…
When I look at her, she doesn’t scream future champion or even possible future champion. The gimmick she has is not good and her mannerisms when playing to the crowd feels flat. To me, it’s the equivalent of watching Dexter Lumis on Mondays.
On the flip side, I think that her opponent Tiara James has a look that I would buy her as a good white meat babyface. From the looks of it, she’s still green and she didn’t get much offense but with her actually having a record (0-2), I think that it’s a good sign that they are bringing her back repeatedly.
