Lately, I’ve started to really look forward to watching AEW Dark every week. I usually enjoy it with few dark spots (no pun intended). Usually, my good parts far outweigh the bad. Let’s see how the show turns out this week.
The Good of AEW Dark
I had mixed feelings about this first match on the show. It’s always great to see Kenny Omega, especially on a show like Dark. With that being said, I kind of wonder why he did this match.
If he wanted to wrestle Hagane, he could’ve did it on Rampage. I think that this would’ve been more impactful for Hagane Shinno.
The match was good, nothing great though. I really don’t like matches between wrestlers with a large difference in popularity that goes long. This match went slightly over ten. It could’ve five and accomplished the exact same thing.
For the second show in a row, I liked the Marina Shafir squash match. This one was shorter than the last and achieved what they wanted it to. At some point, they are going to have to let her go in longer matches against better opponents, but this is just fine for her at the moment.
Angelico is great! Chaos project, meh, but Angelico is underused. I like them being a team if it gets Angelico some more time.
I like Julia Hart in the ring. I wish that her match would’ve went longer but the squash is fine. Don’t think that that promo from earlier and her vibe in ring is the same.
Jade Cargill had a squash match. It was what it was. The biggest take away from this match was how much of a star Jade looks like. People say that she isn’t very good in the ring, but there is something to be said about the look of a wrestler.
As long as Jade is decent in the ring, I think that she is someone that could actually draw in casual fans if they made her the focal point of their women’s division. Her theme music is awesome too.
Lastly, I always love “Pretty” Peter Avalon every time I see him. He is one of the few people in AEW that I actually find entertaining outside of the ring. He just looks like a funny guy and he plays his character well.
