Fans have been eagerly awaiting FTR challenging The Acclaimed for the AEW World Tag Team Championships. Already holding the ROH, AAA & IWGP Tag Team Championships – FTR is one win away from being one of the most decorated tag teams of all time. This dream match comes tonight on an episode of AEW Dynamite, after The Acclaimed called out FTR to truly prove they are the best tag team in the world today.
The Acclaimed & FTR Show Why They’re Two Of The Best Tag Teams In The World
On his way to the ring, Caster claimed FTR meant Find the Remote, and while they call themselves Top Guys – tonight they’ll be the bottoms. The FTR corner was flooding with gold, but there was room for two more belts. Bowens would start with Harwood, being quickly forced into the corner for a tag of Wheeler.
Headlock would be applied, before Bowens shoved Wheeler off before taking a shoulder tackle. They’d trade headlock takeovers before landing at a stalemate. Caster got the tag, before meeting Harwood and being run down with a shoulder tackle. Harwood would take a dropkick and a deep Ricky Steamboat esque armdrag, before Bowens got the tag.
Bowens would take a heavy chop in the corner, coming back to with one of his own. They’d go back and forth, before this broke into a four man brawl. Caster took Wheeler from the ring, before Harwood took the Scissor Me Timbers leg drop to the groin. The Acclaimed would scissor in the ring, before keeping the pressure on Harwood.
Harwood would attempt to get the Sharpshooter applied, instead being placed in the hold himself. FTR would break free before taking Caster & Bowens to the floor. Bowens was thrown into the barricade, before Caster was slingshotted into the undercarriage of the ring. FTR were falling into their old heel ways, which might be what they need to win more gold tonight.
Caster would find himself isolated in the FTR corner, the ring cut clean in half. Harwood hit a backdrop driver, with Wheeler quickly getting the tag to apply a tight rear chinlock. Caster was set up for a Superplex, and was able to break free to complete the tag to Bowens.
The Champions Find Their Opening For Victory
Bowens would unleash on FTR, dropping both men with heavy strikes and a modified Fame Asser. Harwood would catch Bowens with a series of German Suplexes, with Bowens blocking into an O’Connor Roll for a two count. We’d see some cheating for Harwood, pulling the tights on an O’Connor Roll of his own.
Bowens would be able to hit an Ushigoroshi on Harwood, getting a two count. Spike Piledriver would land from FTR in the corner, with Bowens able to somehow kick out. Rolling elbow would rock Harwood, before a tag team cutter from The Acclaimed got a two count.
The Acclaimed would try to hit Big Rig, but FTR blocked and hit the move themselves on Caster. Bowens somehow would make the ring to save the day, Wheeler a step short playing defence. Bowens hit The Arrival, and Caster would soar with the Mic Drop – missing Wheeler by a wide margin.
Harwood was taken out on the floor, before Wheeler hit the Gory Bomb on Bowens. Caster got a two count off a roll up before being run down with a trio of brutal lariat from Wheeler and a powerbomb. Caster would block the pinfall into one of his own, and managed the three count to retain.
There was respect shown after the bell from The Acclaimed & FTR, all four scissoring with Daddy Ass. After the match, The Gunns would announce that they had a message from The Briscoes. Final Battle. Double Dog Collar Match. ROH World Tag Team Championships.
