It’s been a while since The Blondes have been seen on AEW TV. Previously known as The Varsity Blondes, the duo of Griff Garrison & Brian Pillman Jr. have become one of the rising tag teams in All Elite Wrestling, but have made little progress as a team in 2022. There’s a good reason for them not appearing on TV however, as Griff Garrison recently underwent surgery for an undisclosed injury.
Griff Garrison Is Off TV Due To Surgery
In a post to his Twitter account, Griff Garrison would give a fan an update on why he’s been absent from TV. Attached to a picture of him in a hospital bed, Garrison had the following to say. “Had to go under the knife today. I’ll be back in no time.”

No further details on this injury were shared, giving little idea on a potential recovery time. The last time Garrison was in the ring was the November 8th episode of AEW Dark, where The Blondes lost to QT Marshall & Cole Karter of The Factory. This match was taped on October 21st, and is the most likely place for Garrison to have been injured.
The Blondes Need A Major Return In 2023
Hopefully once Garrison is back in action, we can see new life breathed into The Blondes. Their most recent feud on TV saw them lose the rights to the term Varsity, with Mark Sterling taking it for his team of Tony Nese & Josh Woods. Prior to this, Julia Hart would leave them to join House of Black – a move they credit for really harming The Blondes momentum.
Both Garrison & Pillman Jr. are talented workers, and have the potential to become a top tag team if both put in the work. They need something to help them stand out as a team, which might be all that’s holding them back.
We here at TheOvertimer wish Garrison a speedy and safe recovery, and hope to see him back in the ring when ready. What are your favorite Griff Garrison moments from his young career? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
