A constitutional specialist who was featured in Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix documentary has claimed that they are not the only ones having a difficult time adjusting to living as royals.

Professor Robert Hazell featured in the inauguration episode of the Netflix show to talk about his publication titled, ‘The Role of Monarchy in Modern Democracy.’
And as part of that process, Hazell stressed that the absence of privacy is an issue that is widespread throughout European royal families.
Hazell and his colleague Dr Bob Morris have since then stated that the British Royal Family have been regularly subjected to outsized intrusions of their seclusion by the tabloid press, as well as other royal households around Europe who have encountered analogous issues.
In their comments, they said: “There is a symbiosis between monarchy and the media which makes it difficult for royals to criticise the press.
“If they do so, they risk getting a bad press; and monarchy depends on the press to publicise what it does and to maintain popular support.”
Those comments would suggest that the Sussexes failed to get a handle over dealing with the media in a way that allowed them to cope.
After all, they have not been shy in using the media to their advantage when it comes to their own benefit. Their controversial interviews with Oprah Winfrey and Meghan’s one with ‘The Cut’ were testament to that.
The fans on social media had a lot to say on the matter. A certain subset of people were of the view that regardless of the widespread problem, no one should be subjected to intrusive media attention.
One person wrote: “The classic ‘well everyone else does it’ excuse. Guess what, it still doesn’t make it right.” The media certainly offers a catch 22, and this is something that the Sussexes will have to get used to moving forward.
