Recently, fans would be shocked to hear that WWE has signed one of the top luchadors in the world. Dragon Lee announced his intentions to head to WWE after winning the AAA Tag Team Championships on a recent show, with this confirmed by Triple H himself. Lee is on his way to the NXT brand – expected to make his debut soon, and will likely be the highest paid name on the NXT roster.
Dragon Lee Will Be The Highest Paid NXT Wrestler In 2023
While exact dollar amounts for how much money WWE contracted wrestlers make is unknown, with the most well known figure being the main roster minimum as around $250,000. Dragon Lee won’t be making that, but has a chance to make it in time, but has taken over the previously released Mandy Rose as the highest paid name on the NXT roster.
This information comes from a report from Dave Meltzer in the latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter, where he would publish the following.
“The belief is that he would be the highest-paid NXT wrestler now that Mandy Rose is no longer working with the brand. It’s a three-year deal and does call for pay increases with each year, but the hope and certainly the feeling he was given is he would have a main roster contract and be brought up in 2024.”
Mandy Rose Was Making Main Roster Money In NXT
Mandy Rose was previously reported to still be making main roster money as part of the NXT roster, being viewed as one of the top draws on the brand. Most NXT talent right now are fairly new recruits coming into the roster with very little experience. It’s possible that longtime NXT names like Roderick Strong & Cameron Grimes are making close to main roster money by this point, but both are expected to leave NXT in 2023.
It’s clear from how much WWE are ready to pay Dragon Lee and his past history in wrestling that he will be a major name for NXT in 2023. He’s likely to win the NXT Championship, potentially being the one to properly dethrone Bron Breakker at Stand & Deliver during WrestleMania weekend.
