A dinner costing $5,000 per table was held in her honour on Tuesday, 29th November 2022 in Indianapolis. Guests were thrilled to post pictures from the party, even though press were not permitted to attend.
In the picture here, we can see a framed picture of Prince Harry and Meghan that is being handed out to guests from one of Megan’s fans, Melonie Howell.
Nevertheless, these events have garnered Meghan a lot of criticism for the following reasons. First of all, the amount of money that is required in order to attend the event means it is not accessible for everyone.
This is despite the fact that Meghan has been very vocal about wanting to break stereotypes and archetypes as shown on her Spotify podcast.
Secondly, this was also a similar criticism that she faced during her event at the One Young World Summit. Despite being an event to bring young leaders together from across the globe, the cost was also quite exorbitant.
Lastly, given that photography was allegedly banned at this event, the fact that there have been pictures promoted points to the idea that this was a publicity stunt designed for clout.
The fans on social media were very vocal about their position. A significant number of them could not believe that people would pay a huge amount of money for a photograph and a dinner about the Duchess.
One person wrote: “So one pays $5000 for dinner and a framed photo of the Harkles. What a cold joke. Suckers,” while another person stated: “So, spend 5 grand to watch Meghan make up a possible million dollar speech after flying in by private jet.”
