Mike Tindall has divulged on how Prince William took the news that he would be going on the reality show, I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here.’
Mike Tindall Reveals How Prince William Reacted To Him Going On The Reality Show ‘I’m A Celebrity, Get Me Out Of Here’-‘Go Have Fun’
Mike, for his part, made history by becoming the first member of royalty to ever go on the show. However, he did follow in the footsteps of others who had some connection with royal-related matters, as royal expert Jennie Bond had made an appearance prior to Tindall.
But given that this decision may have backfired, fans could have been forgiven for thinking that the Prince of Wales may have been worried. And yet, it turned out to be anything but that.
In his comments, Tindall said: “You don’t want to upset anyone. I spoke to the Prince of Wales about it and he said “Great, go have fun.”
It has been reported by The Times that the 44-year-old ex-rugby player did not ask permission from King Charles III to feature on the reality show.
Mike further mentioned that he was not given any advice concerning things that he could or couldn’t say about the Royal Family on the programme. However, for some conversations, he said that he kept them brief.
Nevertheless, Tindall did receive some initial backlash. This was on the basis that the media attention towards him was far less scathing than that of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s Netflix docuseries.
And yet, arguably both do provide an element of entertainment in some way. The fans on social media were critical towards the approach of William.
A certain subset felt that he should have given more advice since Tindall was going to be in front of global cameras. Therefore, at the very least, this would have provided some assurance.
One person wrote: “Definitely not the right response William. You are identifying too much with matters of little importance like football and reality shows.”
