Kevin Knight & KUSHIDA are no longer in a position to win Super Junior Tag League, but tonight have a chance to play spoiler. We have a three way tie for first place in the tournament right now, with the BULLET CLUB duo of Chris Bey & Ace Austin standing alongside SAUCEHEARTS & Catch 2/2 at ten points. They kick off tonight’s show alongside Knight & KUSHIDA, which is a very winnable match for them on paper – but anything can happen at this stage of a tour.
Kevin Knight & KUSHIDA Are Finding Their Rhythm
Once again, Knight would announce he’s no longer a Young Lion, only for Bey to mock him and start the might with The Jet. Knight would apply a side headlock, with Bey shoving him off before hitting a running shoulder tackle. Bey would get cocky and was dropped by a shoulder tackle, before trying to take Knight down with a headscissor takedown and failing.
Knight would get some serious height off a springboard crossbody, before a twisting splash for a two count. KUSHIDA & Knight would take turns wrenching on the arm of Bey, before a double knee drop to the arms. Austin would look to save his partner, before being dropped with a running knee lift. Bey & Austin would avoid dives to the floor, fleeing into the crowd.
KUSHIDA & Knight took chase – with Knight getting Bey back into the ring. Bey would block a springboard crossbody with a dropkick, before Austin would get a kick to the back of Knight’s head. A headscissor would be applied to Knight, who was able to shift his way to freedom before the snap suplex.
The step over armbar was applied, Austin using his back to hide a laminated card that sliced between the fingers of Knight. Bey would lose control of Knight with a backdrop, allowing the tag to KUSHIDA. A series of hard strikes would follow, with KUSHIDA wiping out Austin with a crossbody before Bey took the hip toss into dropkick combo.
Ace Austin Makes The Jet Fold
Austin would be taken into an armbar – but shifted KUSHIDA into a triangle choke before a powerbomb. Bey would be launched into the cutter, but was instead caught with a German Suplex before Austin took the Too Fly Dropkick. Jet Flight Dropkick was set, but Austin would save Bey – who was placed on the top rope for a hurricanrana before the Jet Flight landed for a two count.
Austin would use his parkour skills to cut Knight & KUSHIDA down, before hitting a twisting suplex. Bey would be caught on the top rope with a handspring kick, before KUSHIDA was sent to the floor for a PK from Austin. Knight would try to make the dive to the floor, but Bey caught him with a cutter.
Back in the ring, Bey would be launched into the Art of Finesse Cutter, before Austin finished the match with The Hold. Bey & Austin move to an impressive 12 points – putting them in the lead of the tournament… for now. SAUCEHEARTS & Catch 2/2 can match them by the end of the show.
Wild Hips Have A Dangerous Miscue
Flying Tiger & Wild Hips are both on the bubble tonight when it comes to the Super Junior Tag League. They come into tonight at a meagre four points each, both teams are mathematically eliminated. However, at this stage of the tournament – finishing strong is almost as important, especially for former IWGP Junior Heavyweight Tag Team Champions like Flying Tiger and a new team like Wild Hips.
Connors would kick things off with Eagles, forcing Eagles to the ropes and hitting a knee to the midsection. Eagles missed a boot to the face and was run down with a stiff shoulder tackle. Taguchi hit the ring and was thrown into the corner, before Connors ran in for a spear, missing Eagles and catching his partner.
Tiger hit the ring, and was able to help Eagles cut Connors down with a combination of stiff kicks. Eagles tried to keep the pressure on, but was launched with the Jeep Flip – allowing the tag to Taguchi. A series of hip attacks would follow, before Taguchi would look for Dodon – only for Eagles to counter.
Eagles would land an enziguri, before Tiger hit the ring and was hit with some hip attacks. Taguchi would look to catch Eagles or Tiger with a Stinkface, only for Flying Tiger to isolate Connnors for the hold. Connors would be defeated by the ass of his own partner, and realising what happened, Taguchi fired up and missed a flying hip attack.
Cutting Flying Tiger Down
A set of roundhouse kicks to the head of Taguchi would follow, before he was thrown into the corner. Tiger kept the kicks coming, before setting up a Butterfly Suplex for a two count. Taguchi kicked out right into a Kimura Lock in the middle of the ring – with Eagles fighting to free his partner.
Taguchi would pull his tights down and try to pin Tiger, only for Eagles & Connors to complicate the situation, rolling the pinfall back and forth – until Tiger & Taguchi collapsed to the side. Connors would take a dropkick to the knee, before coming back with a flying hip attack and pulling his tights down, before being shot from the sky with a kick.
Tiger would look for the Tiger Driver in the ring, with Taguchi able to counter – and with the help of Connors, get the pinfall and the victory. They move to 6 points, but with just a few matches left and the leading team at 12? They’re unable to even potentially win.
