Normally when Hiroshi Tanahashi meets EVIL, it’s a clear battle of Good vs. Evil, but with the influence of Toru Yano – Tanahashi is letting some of his cheating ways loose. To remain in the conversation for the finals on December 14th, Yano & Tanahashi must keep winning – while EVIL & Takahashi have no chance of making the finals once again. Instead, they can simply play spoiler for Tanahashi & Yano – which is a win in the eyes of House of Torture.
House of Torture Use Two Man Advantage To Eliminate Be-Bop Tag Team
House of Torture would attack before the bell, only to be yanked down to the mat by their hair. Dick Togo had no hair to be yanked. Tanahashi would hit the springboard crossbody on Takahashi in the ring. Takahashi yanked Tanahashi’s hair, before EVIL would grab the ankle of Tanahashi allowing for a kick to the face.
On the floor, Yano was taken out by EVIL – while Takahashi hit a sliding leg drop to Tanahashi in the middle of the ring. A Fisherman Buster would be blocked into the Twist & Shout neckbreaker, before Yano would expose a corner of the ring and use the pad to block a strike. Yano would throw the pad to Takahashi, before slapping him in the back of the head and running him into the steel for a roll up.
EVIL would stomp the pad, which would anger Yano – leading to a Manhattan Drop that landed flush. Tanahashi got the tag and lit EVIL up with some heavy strikes, before the Jumping Bomber forearm. Sunset Flip Senton would land for a near fall, before Tanahashi would signal for the Slingblade.
EVIL shoved the referee into the path of Tanahashi, only to take a Dragon Screw Leg Whip. Cloverleaf would be applied, but Togo would run the distraction, allowing the referee to be dropped. This led to a double low blow to Takahashi & Togo, before EVIL was dropped with a Slingblade for a two count.
Aces High would follow, before SHO would look to stop the High Fly Flow. Yano would take him out, but EVIl had a chance to recover and get his knees up to block the splash. A low blow, wrench shot and STO followed – and Tanahashi was pinned. Be-Bop Tag Team are out of the running for the finals.
Aussie Open Finally Meet TMDK In Tag Team Action
Two of the top tag teams to come out of Australia meet tonight as the World Tag League starts to wind down. Aussie Open is just one win away from a certain spot in the finals, while TMDK will require two victories to make it to the finals. Many felt they would have met in the finals of the NJPW STRONG Openweight Tag Team Championship, but in a twist – TMDK got knocked out in the semi-finals. Tonight, we get this dream match – and both teams will be fighting hard.
The right shoulder of Mark Davis was heavily taped up coming into this match while the neck of Fletcher was taped, but he’d still start with Mikey Nicholls. Davis was forced onto the ropes, but avoided the cheap strike from Nicholls with relative ease. They’d trade strikes in the middle of the ring, Davis baited into running for a shoulder tackle before taking a stiff back elbow smash to the face – but came back with a shoulder tackle.
Nicholls would hit a stalling vertical suplex, before Davis made the tag to Fletcher. A double back elbow smash would be followed by a PK and a XL Senton. Nicholls was sent to the floor and Haste was yanked off the apron, before Aussie Open ran TMDK into each other with spinebusters.
Back in the ring, Haste would avoid a body slam from Fletcher, before shoving him to the apron for a DDT from Nicholls. Some heavy knee strikes in the ring and a neckbreaker would follow from Nicholls, getting a two count. Haste would choke Fletcher, before dragging him to the floor right into a neckbreaker.
Fletcher Falls To The Tank Buster
Back in the ring, Fletcher would try to fight off TMDK, only to be caught with a combination backdrop and neckbreaker. Davis would make the save during the pinfall, only to be thrown out to the floor and into the barricade. Fletcher was able to catch Nicholls with a brainbuster, and would be fired up by Gideon Grey to complete the tag.
Davis would catch Haste in the corner with some chops and lariats before trying for the reverse Death Valley Driver. Nicholls would make the save, being sent to the floor and dropped by a dive from Fletcher, as Davis would hit the sliding forearm and the driver for a two count. Fletcher would be caught in the corner by a superplex from Haste, with Nicholls driving Haste down with a powerbomb for extra speed.
Tank Buster would be avoided, before Fletcher cut Nicholls down in the corner. Dental Plan kick would be followed by the assisted jumping DDT for a two count. We’d get an all out brawl from all four men in the ring, with Aussie Open winning out before Fletcher was dropped by Tank Buster for a two count. Davis would save Fletcher from Thunder Valley, before Aussie Open would have a rare miscue as Davis ran down Fletcher with a lariat. Tank Buster would follow – and TMDK got the win.
