Juice Robinson has signed a contract with AEW/ROH, and his first move is to try to win his first big championship in the United States. A three time IWGP United States Heavyweight Champion, Robinson knows all about winning big time singles matches – but defeating Samoa Joe in a Ring of Honor ring is never easy. The ROH World Television Championship hangs in the balance, and a win tonight would also put Robinson in line for the TNT Championship, also held by Samoa Joe.
Juice Robinson Shows Some Fighting Spirit
Samoa Joe would be the fan favourite as the match began, Robinson would go for a wrist lock, before taking a forearm to the jaw. Joe would hit some quick jabs, before Robinson fired back with some of his own. The jumping senton would be caught into a Rear Naked Choke, with Robinson rolling out to the floor.
Joe would expose some concrete on the floor, before applying the choke and being driven back into the barricade. Cannonball senton would follow, with Robinson being planted with the Uranage back in the ring. Joe would take this one back out to the floor, sitting Robinson in a chair and hitting the running big boot to the face.
Back into the ring, Joe would manage a two count – keeping the pressure on Robinson with a rear chinlock. Robinson would slip free before taking a headbutt and a roundhouse kick. Some heavy jabs would be exchanged, with Robinson able to win out and getting the crowd behind him. Joe would hit the Manhattan Drop before the big boot and running senton.
Samoa Joe Breaks The Losing Trend For Champions Tonight
A spinebuster would land, before some jabs and chops in the corner. Joe would be cornered, and hit with another cannonball senton. Diving crossbody would get a two count, before a piledriver was blocked into a back body drop. Joe would set up a powerbomb, with the high angle pinfall allowing him to move right into an STF.
Robinson would reach for the ropes and be locked in a crossface instead. Unable to see the ropes, he’d consider tapping out – but caught a brief glimpse and broke the hold. Robinson would get a two count off a Sunset Flip, before taking Joe down with the Leg Lariat. Going to the top rope would be a mistake, as Robinson would be tripped up and dropped with the Muscle Buster for the finish.
Breaking a trend of champions losing tonight – Joe remains the ROH World Television Champion. Who can stop a dominant force like Samoa Joe? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
