The Archbishop of Canterbury expressed his belief that there is an avenue for resolution between the Sussexes and the Royal Family, but only when the timing is appropriate.
The Archbishop of Canterbury Believes The Sussexes And The Royals Can Reconcile At ‘The Right Time’
Justin Welby, the Archbishop in question, performed the marriage ceremony for the couple in the year of 2018. He declared that he could not express an opinion over the rift due to confidentiality issues.
Buckingham Palace has uttered no word on the claims that Prince Harry stated in his Netflix program. One such allegation was how his brother, Prince William, shouted and screamed at him regarding a meeting over Megxit.
When asked if he believed there was a potential to reconcile, this is what the Archbishop had to say: “There’s always a way forward, but it has to be at the right time.
“And, as a Christian, I live in the belief that forgiveness comes from God…But the way we welcome that opportunity is different for everyone. And there has to be a right time.”
According to Welby, individuals today receive harsh criticism and punishment when they commit an error. This is understandable when we look at the reaction towards the Sussexes in comparison to Prince Andrew.
The latter was involved in a sexual assault scandal involving Virginia Giuffre. Despite the fact that it was settled out of court, his reputation had been damaged. But the media reaction towards him has died down in comparison to the Sussexes.
The response on social media was in favour of what the Archbishop had to say. A significant proportion of people were of the view that time could prove to be healer once the Sussexes had managed to fully air their grievances.
One person wrote: “Good to see the head of a church preaching what he practices for a change – waiting for the right time.”
