Tag team wrestling is going to be very big in NXT in 2023. Even though they don’t have an abundance of tag teams on the brand, there are some that could break out, especially with The New Day being down there for some time. Here are three to look out for in 2023.

    The Dyad

Rip Fowler & Jagger Reid are two wrestlers that have a lot of experience. Some people may remember them from their great matches as the tag team, The Grizzled Young Veterans. They lost in the Dusty Tag Team Classic tournament finals two years in a row if I am not mistaken.

People may look at them as losers for this but imagine how much winning they had to do to even get to the finals of two tag team tournaments.

Now, they are the other two members in Joe Gacy’s group, Schism. Even though I think that this repackaging was sort of unnecessary for them, I understand why they did it.

In wrestling, especially when there is a lot of talent around you, you must stand out with your character work and as the GYV, there was no character work.

With Schism, they put their in ring work to the side and decided to work on making themselves more interesting. I think 2023 will be the time when they get back into the tag team fold.

    Gallus

The UK stable is set to make a big splash in 2023. The tag team consisting of Wolfgang and Mark Coffey has experience and a gritty look.

Look for them to thrive in the tag team picture while leader Joe Coffey pursuits a singles title.

Gallus is set for a big run, mainly because there aren’t many groups in NXT. I think that they are just getting the remaining parts of Vince’s NXT 2.0 out of the way for the end of the year before they hit the next gear and get NXT running close to what it used to run like in the golden age of NXT.

This means that talented tag team wrestling will most likely be a big focus of the shows and now with two hours to burn through a week, Gallus will have more time to let fans know who they are.

    Malik Blade & Edris Enofe

These two guys are a great example of wrestlers that are talented in the ring but a lack of charisma kept them both from getting over.

These guys were put together in a team, and they quickly became one of the best fan favorite teams in NXT. They are still at the point that they are basically cannon fodder for the more established teams though.

I think that this will change in 2023 because I think that NXT wants to push Odyssey Jones, a singles wrestler that kind of have a group with these guys.

If this is the plan, look for NXT to try to keep these guys strong and look forward to seeing this talented team make waves in 2023.
