I’m one of the many people who think that AEW should put a ban on signing new talent until they sort their current roster out. They have too many people but I think that there are a few people that they could sign that would be no brainers if they could get their hands on them and they would fix a glaring weakness in their roster.
Natalya (currently signed to WWE)
Even though AEW currently cannot get Natalya and probably never will, especially as long as Tyson Kidd is signed to WWE in a backstage role, I think that Natalya would be a great signing to them.
AEW could really use her in ring to help bolster AEW’s talented young group of wrestlers, but I think that she would be best used in the role of trainer for them.
In all other areas, AEW is solid, from their singles talent to their tag team/trios talent. The only hole that I see in their roster is their women’s division hasn’t really been able to get off of it’s feet with the exception of a few great matches from them.
Natalya would help training the women and helping the women that aren’t at the top look more natural which is something that I can see as a difference even between the women in AEW and the women in NXT.
Mickie James (Currently in Impact Wrestling)
As far as someone who I think is more entertaining in the ring is Mickie James. She is someone who can teach the younger women so much if they are willing to listen to her as someone who is a veteran and has been wrestling for over 20 years consistently.
This is something that you cannot say about many if any women wrestlers. I don’t think that Mickie James has ever suffered any major injuries that has kept her out for extended periods of time.
She would not only be great to help them while being an active performer, but to show them how to work safer.
Also, I think Mickie James would be someone who you wouldn’t have to push for real. She isn’t someone who would come in trying to be the face of the women’s division and if someone needs a meaningful win, she would be the one to take it.
Sasha Banks (Unsigned)
Of course, you know that I couldn’t make a list like this without adding the biggest free agent on the market today, Sasha Banks.
At this point, I’m starting to wonder does she really want to return to wrestling because of her recent mainstream success. If she didn’t, I wouldn’t blame her at all.
If she did (which I think that she wants to), there are only two possible places for her to go, WWE or AEW. I think that WWE has more of a chance of getting her based off of the infrastructure that they would have around her from marketing to her established experience with many of the other personnel in the company.
AEW does have a silver lining though, even though it would be taking advantage of something that many people take advantage of.
I could see Sasha Banks demanding an unreasonable amount of money that even though WWE have it to give to her, they wouldn’t be willing to overpay for her value. I think AEW would and actually have a chance of getting her.
If she signed with AEW, she would instantly be their biggest women’s star and would instantly upgrade the whole division.
