Last week, Roxanne Perez would call her shot – and was able to end the dominant NXT Women’s Championship reign of Mandy Rose. Tonight she has a chance to sit down with her trainer and NXT commentator Booker T, and will be able to speak about just how big that moment was for her young career.
Roxanne Perez Sits Down With Booker T After NXT Women’s Championship Victory
Booker T would say he felt like Morpius in the Matrix looking for The One, and Roxanne was the one. Roxanne would admit she didn’t expect for this to happen, but knew she put in the work to make that moment happen. Five years ago, she walked into Reality of Wrestling and told Booker T she wanted to get to WWE, and asked how he’d make that happen.
With nine months in WWE, she would win the first ever NXT Women’s Breakout tournament, become NXT Women’s Tag Team Champions, and now is the NXT Women’s Champion. Booker T telling her to always bet on herself led to her calling for a title match, and it paid off. She’d ask if Booker T had any advice, he’d simply say it’s time for her to go out and make history.
Apollo Crews Gets Interrupted By Carmelo Hayes
Apollo Crews was unable to win the NXT Championship when he faced Bron Breakker at NXT Deadline, and will have to wait until after New Years Evil for another chance to become champion. Tonight Crews returns to NXT, has a chance to reflect on his 2022, and will be looking for his path to New Years Evil.
After praising the recent championship win of Roxanne Perez, Crews would say that the vision was clear at Deadline. He came back to NXT to win that belt, and had that chance – but things didn’t pan out. However, he’s not out of championship contention – and as NXT goes back on the road for Vengeance Day – he intends to be in the title picture.
Carmelo Hayes would interrupt, saying Crews is at the back of the line – while Hayes is the next in line. He’d acknowledge Crews might be a future Hall of Famer, but will still hang his jersey in the rafters. Crews said that no matter how good you think you are – there’s always someone better. Hayes just needs to name the time and place, and Crews will show him that.
Elektra Lopez Is Two Steps Ahead
Indi Hartwell has not made many friends in the NXT locker room lately, and came up short at NXT Deadline in the Iron Survivor Challenge. She’d recently get into a backstage brawl with Elektra Lopez backstage at an NXT live event – and tonight will go one on one with Lopez in the ring.
Hartwell would drive Lopez in the corner with a shoulder tackle as this match began, before throwing some punches on the floor. Lopez would nail a stiff forearm smash before kicking Hartwell from the ring. On the floor, Hartwell would be driven into the corner shoulder first, before taking an elbow drop in the ring for a two count.
Some jabs from Hartwell would be followed with a set of lariats, with a boot to the side of the head following. Hartwell was dropped with a jumping crossbody, before attempting a back suplex with Lopez using some brass knuckles to counter for the victory.
Could Lopez find herself in a match with Perez soon? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
