Despite this week’s episode of AEW Dark was solid overall, as usual, I did have just a few gripes about some of the things. Here are some of the parts of the show that I think AEW could improve upon going forward.
The Bad from AEW Dark
To start this side of things off, I have to put a match that wasn’t a bad match at all. The match with Sammy Guevara and Daniel Garcia was solid. I think that Sammy did a good job at making the match interesting.
My issue is that there is already a storyline going that is doing the same thing as they did in this match, but much more interesting. Matt Hardy and Ethan Page does the same thing that was done in this match but way more entertaining.
I know that the guys in the JAC are way more popular than the guys in the Firm, but that don’t mean that it is better. I have to say, despite how talented he is in the ring, Garcia is one of the closest that I have seen as very boring in AEW. He puts me in the mind as Dean Malenko in WCW.
If you saw my list of the good things from the show, in the Kiara Hogan match, I said that AEW constantly does things that make their matches look less fluid than they could. In this match, the enhancement talent looked absolutely stupid for staggering outside the ring for so long while Sammy ran the ropes. It looked cool though.
I am sorry, but I just don’t see the hype behind Action Andretti. Not only does AEW have at least ten Action Andretti’s on their roster, but they also have better versions of him in Dante and Darius Martin.
He still got time to grow and get better, but for now, I don’t think that he is anyone special like AEW fans would lead you to believe.
Lastly, I got absolutely nothing from the Matt Menard and Angelo Parker match. I usually don’t put squash matches on the bad side unless I don’t learn anything about the wrestlers.
There is always something that can be gained or learned from any match no matter how long the match goes. Even though they got a reaction from the crowd, I don’t think that this match achieved what they probably wanted it to do.
