For Ethan Page, reaching the finals of the AEW World Championship Eliminator tournament has been rather simple. He defeated Eddie Kingston & Bandido, getting some help from Stokely Hathaway along the way. Then he sat back and watched as Ricky Starks clawed his way to the same spot. Starks was injured by Lance Archer, pushing their match way back – forcing Starks to wrestle Archer & Brian Cage on back to back shows. Now, whatever is left of Starks will face a 100% fresh Page tonight – with the first shot at new AEW World Champion MJF at Winter is Coming on the line.
Ethan Page Celebrates Prematurely
On the way to the ring, Stokely Hathaway would say that everyone should already celebrate the victory of Ethan Page – as it’s a certain fact. One man disagreed, and he might be as taped up as 90’s Diamond Dallas Page – but Ricky Starks still has more fight to bring. The crowd was 100% behind Ricky Starks, but a kick to the taped up ribs would stagger him.
Page would do some jumping jacks as Starks found his feet, before taking some clubbing blows from Starks – quickly being cornered. Starks would be driven into the corner, before battling free with some chops. Page would have Starks well scouted, catching him with the kick as he tried to pop over in the corner.
Starks would hit a perfectly timed spear, but was unable to follow up due to using the bad shoulder. He’d roll out to the floor, and Page would proceed to drive Starks into the corner. A flapjack onto the barricade would follow, before a rib breaker in the middle of the ring from Page.
Ricky Starks Pulls Off Another Star Making Performance
A delayed vertical suplex in the ring would follow, with Starks able to stay in the fight. Page would be thrown into the corner, but Starks missed the lariat. The DDT would be blocked, as Starks was tossed onto the top rope. Page would be sent out to the floor – and Stokely Hathaway yanked him out of the way, causing Starks to hit the ground hard, and Stokely to be kicked out.
Back in the ring, Starks would be able to take Page off the top rope with a superplex – risking his body to do serious damage to Starks. A swinging neckbreaker would follow, Page landing very hard on his head. Starks would be slow following up, but the DDT off the ropes would manage to get him a two count.
Roshambo would be hard for Starks, with Page able to fight free and nail a powerslam. Ego’s Edge would be avoided as Starks rolled off the back into a roll up. Two spears later – and somehow, Ricky Starks has won this tournament. He will meet MJF at Winter is Coming, his first chance to win the AEW World Championship.
