Coming off of last week’s great episode of Dark Elevation, we get a mixed bag this week. While there was a lot of good, the bad was things that I have complained about before with this show. Let’s take a look at the bad parts of AEW Dark Elevation.
The Bad from AEW Dark Elevation
The first thing that I have to address is the quality of the announce team on the show. I think that this is the worse announce team in wrestling. I don’t want to put this on Paul Wright because he is newer and still learning.
I think that this might be a Daddy Magic issue. It seems like they either don’t have any chemistry or they are trying too hard to be like Taz and Excalibur but is really missing the mark.
I think that AEW just threw two color commentators into the same booth and thought that they would be good, but they are wrong. Hopefully something changes soon.
Next, before we get into the action, I saw that they are very inconsistent with how they show the records with the wrestlers. Some people, they show their overall record, some they show their 2023 record, and some they only showed their Dark Elevation record.
The first of four bad parts of the show starts with the Athena match. Of course, the match was a perfectly fine squash match, but I am starting to feel bad for her. She is too good to be ROH Women’s Champion and too good to be on Dark and Dark Elevation as much as she is.
AEW need to get that title off of her soon because the fans are very into her despite her being a heel. She is someone who could be a huge asset to the struggling women’s division if they give her a chance.
Next, the Marina Shafir squash match went on for slightly too long. The match was what it was but I think that the Shafir squashes are getting old. They need to start giving her some better competition.
The Matt Hardy and Isiah Kassidy match was another squash that went on too long. The fans were into the match but I wasn’t as much. It was fun, but I got bored of it quickly.
The last bad part wasn’t all that bad, it just wasn’t for me. The Dark Order match went on too long for me. This don’t mean that it wasn’t fun for everyone else. The crowd loved what they were doing out there. I just didn’t find it entertaining.
