House of Black had a rough year in 2022, with Malakai Black & Buddy Matthews nearly stepping away from All Elite Wrestling at one point – but they’re ready to ensure that the fate of 2023 is firmly in their own hands. They provoked Eddie Kingston & Ortiz to end 2022, and have yet to actually come to blows with the street tough duo. Tonight we hear from Malakai Black, as he looks to send a likely cryptic message to Kingston & Ortiz.
Malakai Black Misses The Eddie Kingston He Knew
Black once knew a man who carried a gun in his pocket, because he didn’t trust the world. That man now asks why Black wouldn’t play by the rules for him. There is a hidden history between Kingston & Black. Black misses the Kingston he knew, the violent sadistic bastard – not the man who went soft since joining AEW.
King & Matthews would make it clear that Kingston isn’t a target of violence, they want to help him. They want him to join their group, so Black can reignite his violent heart for the good of the House. This made the issues between Kingston & the House of Black all the more interesting, and helped to ensure that there is even more doubt in the mind of Ortiz.
Perro Peligroso Tears Sonico Down, Rips His Mask Off
When Preston Vance turned his backs on the fans and his Dark Order brothers, few could argue it was the right move for his career. Someone of his skillset and looks being placed under a mask and reduced to a number is a complete and utter waste of talent. Now running with RUSH in La Faccion Ingobernable, Vance has requested to be called Perro Peligroso – and tonight will look to make quick work of his opponent to kick off what might be a golden 2023.
Sonico would be his opponent, an 11 year pro with a lot of history in the region. He’d hit some strikes to the chest of Peligroso before being dropped with a Spinebuster. Full Nelson would be applied, but Sonico let it go to end things with the Brodie Lee Styled discus lariat. After the match, Sonico would be unmasked – adding some insult to injury before he would drag him up the ramp alongside Jose The Assistant.
Darby Allin Never Stopped Issuing Open Challenges
Darby Allin barely walked out of AEW Dynamite, yet managed to do it with the TNT Championship around his waist once again. However, if there’s anything we know about Allin is that he’s a glutton for punishment, so just two nights after that brutal encounter with Samoa Joe, he’s putting the TNT Championship on the line infront of his hometown crowd. Mike Bennett of The Kingdom would accept the open challenge, keen to prove himself as worthy of the AEW contract he signed in 2022.
Allin was obviously not 100% on his way to the ring, but that has literally never stopped him from entering a match. Bennett would shove Allin as the match began, before being taken into a side headlock. Allin would refuse to let go of the hold, until he was placed on the top rope by Bennett.
Bennett would take some downward slaps from Allin, only to nail a superkick to the knee which sent Allin to the floor. Allin would be tossed into a barricade before taking a kick to the jaw. Bennett would be unable to maintain the advantage, with Allin hitting the ring for a dive to the floor – with Taven shoving Bennett out of the way.
The Kingdom Remains Goldless
Allin would be caught on the apron by Bennett, who hit a Russian Leg Sweep off the apron – a move that will just hurt both men. Back in the ring, Bennett would go after the shoulder of Allin with a hammerlock drop, before a suplex dropped Allin right across the top rope. Allin would be taken up for a suplex, but was able to block into the Scorpion Death Drop.
Bennett would be able to remain in control despite this, with Allin slow to follow up after hitting the move passed down to him by Sting. Heavy chops would follow, with Allin fighting back with forearm smashes only to be punched in the jaw. Death Valley Driver would follow, but Allin was able to kick out.
Kimura would be locked in, with Allin able to find the bottom rope with his foot before rolling out to the floor. Bennett would be pulled out to the floor, with Allin setting him up on a chair before diving off the top rope with a dropkick. Back in the ring, Maria Kannelis would act as a human shield for his husband, and as she was sent out of the ring – Taven would hit an enziguri.
Bennett would follow up with a piledriver, but this would be unable to keep Allin down. Avalanche Piledriver would be set up by Bennett, only for Allin to instead hit the Code Red off the ropes before the Coffin Drop for the victory – making his first title defense of this reign.
