Recently, an amateur video, taken somewhere in a club in Mexico showed the long-term UFC President Dana White in an altercation with his wife, Anne White. In the video, Dana White argues with his wife of 25 years and at one point slaps her over her face. The incident drew worldwide attention. It was in all the newsletters. Aside from newsletters and social media, MMA fans and members of the MMA community condemned Dana White’s behavior. The current UFC commentator, Daniel Cormier is no exception.
Daniel Cormier recently condemned Dana White’s actions from the New Year’s Eve incident. He made it clear to the public that he is strongly against violence outside the UFC octagon. He despises domestic violence and is strongly against leaving such deeds unpunished.
Daniel Cormier Condemns Dana White For Hitting Wife – ‘You Should Never Put Your Hands On A Woman’
“You should never put your hands on a woman.” – Daniel Cormier states. It is not the first time that the UFC Hall of Famer steps up against domestic violence and abuse. A couple of years ago, he did a public statement when his bitter rival Jon Jones was involved in a somewhat similar incident.
“All those little things you’ve got to think that it doesn’t matter who you are, what type of person you are. Those are the things that have to really make you look within yourself and make a decision. Because no one’s perfect, but at a point, you’ve got to make a decision not only for yourself. But, for your daughters, for your fiancée, for your family, for everything. I think right now is that time.” – Daniel Cormier said of Jones. “But the scariest part about this is in these moments when people who have issues start to lose their closest allies, they can go one of two ways: One way, they can go to the top and get their sh*t together, or they can actually just plummet.”
Daniel Cormier refers to domestic violence as ‘disgusting’ and ‘unforgivable’. He often says that a man can lose all the respect he has just by doing something as stupid as domestic violence. According to the UFC legend, actions like this should not go unnoticed and unpunished. After all, we are speaking about the most recognizable face of the UFC. The man that created it all, and apparently, the man that might crumble it down very fast.
Until now, there is no clear information from the UFC promotion on the matter. It is uncertain if Dana White will remain the head of the promotion. Ever since the incident, Dana White has taken full responsibility for his actions, and even apologized to his fans. However, a simple apology may just not do the trick here. Maybe something more rigorous will be needed.
What do you think? Do you agree with Daniel Cormier and think that Dana White shouldn’t walk away with this unpunished?
