While the biggest show of Wrestle Kingdom 17 is now in the books, with the massive show from the Tokyo Dome having taken place on January 4th. However, New Japan Pro Wrestling previously announced a second night of action for Wrestle Kingdom 17, set for January 21st in Yokohama arena. Much like the third night of Wrestle Kingdom 16, this will see the roster of NJPW battle with the roster of Pro Wrestling NOAH – with a special focus on two top factions facing off.
Kongo & Los Ingobernables De Japón Set For A Best Of Five Series
During Wrestle Kingdom 17, we’d hear of a backstage altercation between Los Ingobernables De Japon of NJPW and KONGO of Pro Wrestling NOAH. Their ten man tag team match at Wrestle Kingdom 16 arguably stole the show – and this year, it’s been split up into five separate singles matches. Being viewed as a best of five series, we will see the following matches between the factions.
- BUSHI vs. Tadasuke
- Hiromu Takahashi vs. Hajime Ohara
- SANADA vs. Manabu Soya
- Shingo Takagi vs. Katsuhiko Nakajima
- Tetsuya Naito vs. Kenoh
This is an incredible line up of matches, especially Takagi vs. Nakajima & Naito vs. Kenoh. While low stakes due to no titles being on the line, these are two incredibly prideful factions – and they’ll be giving their all in every match to come out the victor of this series. Naito vs. Kenoh will main event the show, and could well prove to be one of the greatest matches of the year. There is two potential title shots on the line, with Hiromu Takahashi holding the IWGP Junior Heavyweight Championship, and Shingo Takagi the KOPW 2023 Championship.
Rest Of Card Is No Slouch, With IWGP & GHC Champions Meeting In Huge Tag Team Match
The rest of the card is also going to be stacked with great action.
Hiroshi Tanahashi & Toru Yano will team up with GHC Tag Team Champions Satoshi Kojima & Takashi Sugiura to face Naomichi Marufuji, KENTA, El Phantasmo & Gedo in the opening match. El Desperado will face YO-HEY in singles action. Master Wato, Ryusuke Taguchi & Tiger Mask IV meet Alejandro, Junta Miyawaki & AMAKUSA in a junior heavyweight clash. Finally, IWGP World Heavyweight Champion Kazuchika Okada will team with Togi Makabe to face GHC Heavyweight Champion Kaito Kiyomiya & Yoshiki Inamura.
This card is much better than what was on offer during the joint show in 2022, and will continue what could be the strongest year in both NJPW & Pro Wrestling NOAH’s recent histories.
