An altercation over clothing reportedly destroyed any chances of Meghan Markle and Kate Middleton ever being friends.
Meghan Markle And Kate Middleton Were Never Going To Be Friends After Falling Out Over Clothing
According to reports, the tension emerged when Meghan apparently was second-in-line when it came to Kate in garnering the latest designs. As such, there was some apparent tension that Kate’s clothing was taking precedent.
It is claimed that Meghan was a big fan of British designer, Erdem Moralıoğlu. This is particularly since Meghan had been wearing some of his clothing prior to joining the Royal Family. But as Kate was given priority, this did not go down very well.
The tensions over clothing were further elaborated in Prince Harry’s memoir, Spare. A dispute apparently emerged over Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress, as Kate was not happy that the dress was too big.
In addition, in the couple’s Netflix docuseries, Meghan further stated that there were rules against people wearing the same clothing in the firm.
In her comments at the time, she remarked: “To my understanding, you can’t ever wear the same colour as Her Majesty if there’s a group event.
“But then you also should never be wearing the same colour as one of the other more senior members of the family.” The response on social media towards Meghan was brutal.
A certain subset of people were of the view that this demonstrated that Meghan failed to recognise that being in the Royal Family required people to put their own ambitions aside for the sake of royal duties.
One person wrote: “And there it is , lack of respect and knowledge of the RF Meghan had and has to this day. Forever competing for the star role.
“The supporting role is what she will always have, when up against Princess of Wales, jealously will be the end of her and Harry.”
