This past week on AEW Dynamite, we would see the conclusion of the Best of Seven Series between The Elite & Death Triangle. It ended with a bang, with a five star rated trios ladder match ending with Kenny Omega claiming the AEW World Trios Championships from above the ring – starting The Elite’s second reign. However, one member of The Elite has been working hurt – as Nick Jackson suffered a broken toe early in the Best of Seven Series.
Nick Jackson Worked The Best Of Seven Series With A Broken Toe
This would be confirmed by Dave Meltzer in the latest issue of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, noting that Nick Jackson suffered a Broken Toe fairly early in the Best of Seven Series – and adding the following.
“Nick was hurting just walking for the last month plus and still doing all the stuff he did in those matches. It is healing up to where he can walk without that much discomfort.”
This just makes the performances of Nick in the recent series of Trios matches all the more amazing, given the high speed style he works was barely slowed down by this injury. Nick is not expected to take any time off due to this injury, being booked to face Top Flight next week alongside his brother.
Who Will Challenge The Elite Next?
With Death Triangle now in the rear view mirror, many fans are wondering who will step up as the next challengers for the AEW World Trios Championships. One potential option is the team of Top Flight & AR Fox. Top Flight are currently the favourite to win their upcoming tag team match with The Young Bucks, given their beat up status following their insane ladder match, and a lengthy lay off from traditional tag team wrestling.
One team fans want to see step up as a challenge for The Elite is House of Black, who made their return in December – and put the entire locker room on notice. That is one of the biggest potential Trios matches AEW has right now. Another huge match could come if we see Adam Cole rejoin The Kingdom to battle The Elite following his recent return to AEW after months on the shelf with a concussion.
