Jonathan Dimbleby, a veteran broadcaster, stated that the revelations in Prince Harry’s new book are the kind which are usually associated with second-tier stars.
Reporter Jonathan Dimbleby Brands Prince Harry A ‘B-List Celebrity’
Dimbleby expressed that he was puzzled by Harry’s choice to release a book. The 78-year-old stated on BBC Radio 4’s Today programme that he believes the Duke of Sussex’s father, King Charles III, is deeply hurt by the circumstances and indescribably exasperated and would want Harry’s revelations to be done away with.
In his comments, Dimbleby said: “There are obviously revelations about how he lost his virginity, taking drugs and how many people he feels he might have shot down in Afghanistan from his Apache, but those are the kinds of revelations in part that you would expect, I suppose, from a kind of B-list celebrity.”
Dimbleby then confirmed that a sensible advisor could have suggested to Harry not to reveal his sentiments if he had desired to maintain his relationship with Charles and his brother Prince William, the Prince of Wales.
Mr Dimbleby also expressed that he would be very taken aback if Harry was not invited to the Coronation ceremony, since doing otherwise would simply increase the issue.
His following comments confirmed as much: “If he wants reconciliation, I don’t understand how you do it by, as it were metaphorically, sitting in your Apache and firing pot shots at people who are not going to fire back, as he must very well know.”
The response on social media was very damning towards Harry. A significant proportion of people made it clear that Harry’s actions were out of order. One person wrote: “Are we supposed to feel sorry for this whiny man-baby?”
Harry’s memoir is certainly making explosive revelations, but whether it has done irreparable damage is anyone’s guess. Time will tell how it all plays out.
