Last night was the annual Royal Rumble, and we now know which two wrestlers will be in the main event matches of WrestleMania. Cody Rhodes would return from injury and win the men’s match, while Rhea Ripley lasted the entire match from the #1 position to come out as the winner. With such a long performance and the chaos of a rumble match, Ripley would not be able to walk away unscathed – suffering a minor knee injury during the match.
Rhea Ripley Confirms Knee Dislocated During Match
During the press conference following the conclusion of the PPV – a variety of names would get a chance to speak, including Ripley. She would be asked about a potential injury during the match – and the following to say about her knee.
“I’m obviously beat up. My knees aren’t very good in general, so my knee did dislocate for a second, and then it went back in. But I’m feeling good now, and because of all my emotions, I’m just excited, so I’m blocking out everything else. If anything, I can smell blood in my nose, and that’s definitely there, but my knee is good.”
Considering Ripley 61 minutes in the ring last night, minor injuries were expected. We can only hope she doesn’t end up with a more severe injury on the Road to WrestleMania, as last night made it clear that she is set to be one of the top stars of the women’s division. In addition to being the winner of the women’s match, she would appear during the men’s match – taking a spear from Beth Phoenix.
Ripley would not reveal which champion she intends to face at WrestleMania – having the choice between Bianca Belair & Charlotte Flair, both of whom Ripley has history with. Which champion do you want to see Ripley face at WrestleMania? Let us know what you think in the comment section down below.
