Three AEW Returns That Will Be Big For 2023

Some of the biggest moments of the year in any company are surprise returns from injury or after a long time away from the ring. After a wrestler is gone, fans get used to watching the product without that wrestler, but when they return, the excitement and possible matches that they can have comes back to you. Here are three AEW wrestlers that will have big impacts when they return to action in 2023.

    Miro

Many people are saying that Miro has one foot out of the door in AEW. I don’t think that he does. I truly believe that Miro wants to be in AEW but he wants what was most likely promised to him, and that is a main event spot.

When Miro first came to AEW, he had a bigger name than probably 90% of the roster and there was a lot of hype to him coming to AEW because many fans thought that he was misused in WWE.

In AEW, he had a great initial run as TNT champion and that was probably what was promised as a set up to him going to the main event. In the time that he held the TNT championship and was helping the undercard thrive, more and more former WWE wrestlers that were more popular than he was kept coming.

This pushed his eventual main event push to the back burner. I think that when he makes his return this year, he will do it with a purpose and force Tony to put in into the main event whether he likes it or not.

    Adam Cole

Adam Cole is someone who is guaranteed to make a large impact when he comes back. He is one of those wrestlers that are typically heel, but the fans refuse to boo.

Everyone loves Adam Cole. With this being the case, I can see him coming back and being thrown into a story against MJF (which he would lose) right away to capitalize off of his momentum.

I can also see him working with someone like Chris Jericho and the JAC. Either way they do it, his return is going to be massive and a big boost to the AEW roster.

Also, I think that the more main event level talent like Adam Cole that they get back, the more they can do to put Rampage back into a better spot.

    Christian Cage

This pick was a toss-up between Cage and Sting. While I do think that Sting is the bigger name amongst AEW fans, Cage is still the more capable in ring performer of the two, and this is where I think his impact will come from.

It is always great when you have people like Sting and Christian Cage, that don’t have dreams of grandeur and making “one last run on top”.

Both Cage and Sting have so much knowledge to give to the lower part of the AEW card and while his return won’t be as big as Miro or Adam Cole’s eventual return, I think that the impact of someone like him being there for the young guys more than make up for it.

Also, Cage can still go at a pretty high level. I would love to see him mix it up with a few more guys in AEW before he makes his eventual WWE return.
