Unlike Monday nights, Smackdown on Friday don’t have as many weak spots as Monday nights, mostly because they have one less hour of time to fill every week. Despite this, there are three returns that could mean big things for Smackdown in 2023.
Rick Boogs
Boogs was injured at last year’s WrestleMania in a tag team championship match that if rumors are true, his team was supposed to have won.
I am not the biggest fan of Rick Boogs, but before he got injured, he was in a very popular tag team with a fan favorite wrestler, Shinsuke Nakamura.
If getting Nakamura back on television isn’t enough of a reason to want Boogs to return, then how about all of the potential matchups that they could have with one of the over five tag teams that has came to the show since he went down.
Rick Boogs added more personality to Nakamura and their tag team was a very entertaining one. In wrestling, personality tends to win out over pure talent almost every time.
Not only do I think that this tag team will be big in Smackdown’s stacked tag team division, I also think that they could prosper.
Big E
This one confused me. I thought that Big E was on the Monday Night Raw roster, but since he is on the Smackdown roster, he has to go on this list.
I can see him fitting into the hard hitting Intercontinental title picture like a glove. I could also see him being in the world title picture if he gets a few good storyline wins under his belt when he returns.
There is a possibility that Big E will have to change up his wrestling style if he does return which could be a good thing for the sake of his long term safety.
Also, I think that he could possibly be in line for a big heel turn even though he has proven for years that he is one of the best babyfaces of the last decade.
I could see him having great programs with GUNTHER, Braun Stroman, and Karion Kross.
Logan Paul
Love him or hate him, Logan Paul is one of the most popular people, not only in wrestling, but in general.
Not only has Logan Paul brought a lot of eyes to WWE that probably wouldn’t have looked twice at it, but he has shown that he is dedicated to wrestling unlike many other celebrities turned wrestlers in the past.
There are always talks of Logan Paul becoming a full time worker, but only time will tell if he goes that route.
What we do know is that there is a high chance that he will be at WrestleMania in some capacity. I think that as an attraction, it would be cool to see him wrestle Omos at the show.
Of course, there are some questions and concerns to this matchup but it is something that you should want from someone of Logan Paul’s caliber.
The classic big man, little man story with the little man coming out on top.
If he does become a regular wrestler, I think that some of the wrestlers that he could have an interesting program with include Santos Escobar, Solo Sikoa, and LA Knight.
